17x7 offset 55 OK on wrx?

sorry if i couldn't find this info with a search. only thing i could find was that 17x7 with 53 offset was ok. is 55mm offset too much on an 02 wrx? any possible problems?
thanks in advance.

55mm offset is perfect for the WRX, as the optional 17" BBS Wheels that Subaru offers is also 55mm offset.

The 02-03 stock WRX rims have a 55mm offset also. I'm sure the 04-05's are the same, too.

i wasn't sure if offset requirements change with different wheel sizes (e.g. 16" to 17") . are the new 06 wrx 17" wheels 55mm offsets too?

Nope, the requirements don't change. After all, the USDM STi's wheels are 17x7.5" with a 53mm offset. Some people say that higher offset are better for these cars and lower offsets may cause premature wear on your wheel bearings, but I have yet to find proof. I say go with whatever you want and whatever fits on your car

....there have been reports of bearing failures in markets outside the US due to offsets below ~+42....I, personally, wouldn't blink at running a +42 offset(for the 'right wheel') but staying 'over' that is better if at all possible...which is one reason that I bought the SSR Comps....+50 offset
