Question 17" or 18" for dirt?

I have a set of 18” aerospeed on my 03. When I purchased them I was way more into street racing. Now I have been hitting the dirt way more frequently. Would it be smart to find a set of 17” wheels so I can fit more rubber on the wheels to absorb the hard bumps? It seems logical. Please tell me what you know. If you want to trade 17s for 18s let me know. Thanks

Many rally drivers use 15" wheels for that reason. 15" might be a little small for you, but I think its safe to assume that smaller wheel plus more tire is a good thing for dirt roads.

i would say get some 16s

you notice a huge difference in the added sidewall height. plus less chance of damaging the rim and tire

Thanks for the info. It's hard to find wheels smaller than 17" that still look good for a good price. rl-7 =$$$$$$$$ speedline=$$$$$$$$$$. nothing on ebay smaller than 17"

15's are best, but 16's will work too. Michalin has made some 16" rally tires, but expect to spend some $$$. There are no 17 or 18 rally tires that I know of.

You can get some 15" kumho's for real cheap!

Cool, thanks for all the info. I found some nice 16" wheels I think they should be good because I still spent allot of time on the pavement. I have some 18" for sale. There are some great trails in Big Sur lets rally for fun sometime. Anyone interested?

just run two sets. have a set for the street and then pick up some smaller wheels for your dirt excursions
