16" factory rims. tire size question

So with the 16" factory rims, I want to go with yoko avs es 100's, but I want to know what it means when it says plus 1 for the size?

Is this going to be better than the normal facotry size? And what differences am I going to notice in performance?

Thanks

Chris

Little wider, so it handles better.

Little heavier, and wider = more drag, so you'll get worse gas mileage. Gas is cheap, so that's probably not an issue =).

so then overall better to go with the plus one? Or am I going to miss something as far as speed is concerned being it's a little heavier with more drag?

If you want a bit more stability and like to drive aggressively on twisty roads, go with the +1. If you obey "most" vehicle codes and are money conscious, get the stock size .

225 50 16

There you go..that's the size most of us are running on our stock WRX rims.

Stock size is 205 55 16 but the above number will give you the same overall rotation distance so it won't throw off your speedo.

Do the 225s you'll be happy.

"Plus 1" refers to going to one inch taller wheels. Has nothing to do with tire size.

You can go with 225/50 or 205/55 on the stock wheels.

Switching from 205/55-16 to 225/50-16 is what they call a "+0" fitment. The tire is wider, but has the same rollout.
