Question 05' WRX Sedan 17" Tires & Wheels

Hi everyone!!

Wasn't too sure if this message has been posted or not but my apology if this has been repeated already....

I'd just recently bought a 2005 Subaru WRX Sedan and I am thinking of putting a new set of rims and tires onto the car. The ones that I am planning to buy are the 17" X 7" (+48mm Offset) OZ Superleggerra with 225/45/R17 Tires. Does anyone know whether or not by doing so would cause any rubbing issues to my car?

Thanks in advance!!

Nope, perfect size, no rubbing... good choice of wheel btw.

The reason that I am asking this is because I've seen mixed suggestions throughout the web (some say rub and some say don't rub). So I just wanted to be certain by asking you all fellow WRX drivers out there that I don't have to roll my fender in order to avoid rubbing. Thank you!

The only reason you would have to roll your fender (the rear ones) is if you run 235s with that aspect ratio (i.e.: 235/45 on a lowered car will rub, on non lowered... it will rub during hard cornering or if you stack people in the seat, but not during normal driving)... you can even run 235/40 if you want (no rubbing)... 245 is pushing it though, esp if your car is lowered, thats pretty much a guaranteed rub... but yeah 225/45 is the most conservative size you can get, so you've chosen well. no need to doubt

Wouldn't a 17X7.5 (or even 17X8) be a better choice for that tire size?

That's what I thought of as well.......But for Oz Superleggerra (GOLD), it only comes with 17 X 7 or 18 X 8, nothing else......I've got the Oz Superleggerra wheels at home already (17 X 7) and I had wanted to ask you all experts out there whether I could go with the 225/45 R17 because according to the Subaru's Recommended 17" tire size for WRX, they say that it recommends using 215/45 R17 on a 17 X 7......but then looking at all the threads and what tirerack gives me, they say that 225/45 R17 could work with 17 X 7 (which I think is fine)......the reason why I wanted the 225 instead of 215 was because I wanted to choose the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or PS2 and they only come with 225 (not 215)......
