Not necessarily, although it does seem likely he accidentally panic braked since we see the car pass on the other lane.
This video reminds me of why I NEVER drive fast in narrow places. The guy probably could have recovered given another lane... but alas there was a canyon wall.

it's the price you pay if you are going to play.
I've done my fair share of screwing around in Japan (always by the loading docks in Yokohama/Yokosuka area)
But never on a public road during daytime....with traffic potentially coming around a blind turn.
My guess is the driver learned an expensive lesson, nu tnot one that he can't recover from.

Something I've always wondered, are the youth of asia out killing themselves because of Initial D? Seems like all the crazy stuff kids get exposed to in Japan is often brought up as the greatest counterarguement to Americans screaming about bad influences.

If the driver was a different person maybe they would have made that turn..........don't think the car has all that much to do with that person not making the turn...........
yeah, you can tell he didn't have very much experience. Watch it again and check out the way he take the apex....he doesn't. Then note the guy who's driving the camera. He takes thing way inside while the guy who crashes is just taking them way to late and just wrong.

Good catch on the driving styles!
The Vette driver seems just as on the outide as the STI, I mean both cars were a bit in the wrong lane going in; you can't exactly "tale an apex" on a public road where there's not enough room for even an emergency lane.
Miotech since you have had racing experience I'm sure you are aware how 180 degree turns should be taken.
The STI driver ended up on the exit about the same position as he entered, but had the bad luck (and/or bad skill take your pick) of running into the motorcycle coming in, which was leaning into the turn causing him to protrude into (or the STI Driver percieved so) the STI's lane.
I still maintain that the STI driver panicked when he saw this.

yup i watched it again and there seems to be supporting evidence in that the STI starts to break loose (just a little bit) right before you see the motorcycle.
So the STI driver was about to grit his teeth and hold onto traction while the car drifted a little into the other lane, but instead panicked and increased his steering angle in an attempt to get out of the way, not realizing he was already at the limit.
You guys have probably experienced this when you take a 270 degree highway onramp/offramp too quickly and you realize "crap, too fast I'll have to just hold on and go into the next lane and hope there's no car there" .... anyways that why I don't drive fast on the street anymore... way too dangerous. I remember this drive in the bay area where the lead car didn't take into account that there would be a fallen tree in the road. DISASTER, and likely no amount of skill at that speed could have saved the situation.
