I would highly recommend changing your air filter....you have no idea how sand can get in everywhere.

Usually when the Navy (or any branch) operates in the Arabian Gulf region, the ships (and other vehicles) are outfitted with better intake filters.

Except for the fact that the hood scoop leads to the intercooler, not to an air intake.

You should be ok just check your air intake filter. Looked like fun, I always wanted to do that when I lived in SLO.

yeah after the fact i was thinking there would be alot of sand in the air filter. to my amazement there was barely none in the filter or air bix. this was done with completely stock intake. snorkel, front air peace etc. as far as i know no harm done, but it did take like 3hrs for me to clean the complete car. that part wasnt fun it sucked.

I would assume the snorkel makes for a place for the sand to go... and it has a hole in the bottom right?

+1 for snorkels

I hear it's harsh on the tranny/diff if done for a prolonged period of time. Usually, those who do off-road excursions frequently invest in oil coolers.

we do???

looks fun, but I'd suggest doing it on dirt next time...I can see how moving in sand would be harder on the car

Heh heh. I guess I was referring to those who frequent sand dunes and the like. It's more difficult to get moving on sand, which exerts more stress on the drivetrain.

Think of how hard it is to run in sand.

Ok we are talking about a car. What he did is fine otherwise no vehicle would drive in the dunes.
