Cool. Thanks for the info. I am trying to get Suby Dealership to switch out the 06 mounts to the 05's without a warranty being voided. I doubt they will do that. I have heard that the plastic brackets on the liquid filled 06 STI motor mounts will break with hard downshifts or hard launches? I have heard from this website and another one. I personally do not know anybody so it is all hearsay. I also do not know how bad the person was driving with them to break. I am thinking pretty hard!!! I will prob. wait for a little bit to purchase just to see what Suby does and how many people complain about them. If not alot then obviously it is the driver and not the vehicle.

Did you see the FQ400 v.s. the lambo. or the ENZO on the website you showed me. Damn, the FQ400 stalls!!! hahahaha, but it does keep up and comes with a warranty. He was powersliding with one finger, one finger. I wish I was that good of a driver. I also saw the EVO v.s. STI. That was sick. Thanks again for the website. I would have never known!!

I have seen both were the EVO is faster and the STI is faster. Sport Compact says the EVO is better and Road and Track says the STI is better. It is all what you like. Both cars are the **** and will beat up on almost anything out there, especially with a few mods. MR is like 3k more. You can take the extra 3k and spend on the STI with aftermarket parts and make way faster!!! The diff. are so minimal that it depends on the driver and again what you like. I like both and hope one day to own both. I sold my EVO and look forward to something new, like an 06 STI. We could be here for days and days disecting each car and still it we would be back to square one. hahaha.

You're thinking about the December issue of Motor Trend.

despite the original post of "Road and Track picks the evo"

in the end they say it's really up to the consumer. they tried to give a non-biased review on both vehicles and they speak the truth about each. in the end it really depends on the person and what they want out of a car. i watched the video and it's basically what they say in the article.

so who's the winner? it's really up to the consumer

Subaru used better plastics with a more substancial feel. The shape and design feels more adult, except perhaps the newest version. Thats why I decided a Subaru was for me. A bro of mine had the clutch in his evo go out after 10,000 miles and he found rust in the bumper area after only a month of ownership! Top gear put it best..."The EVO is a great car, but when I drive home, I always find myself in the Impreza, always". Besides, even if my car only made 100hp, the sound of that Boxer motor is something of beauty. No matter how much power an EVO has, it sounds like a civic. Little touches like that make me feel like I choose correctly whenver an EVO pulls up and starts rev'n.
I personally don't buy my cars for interior. If it's functional then I'm happy. I had a Integra Type-R, 03' Cobra, and now my EVO. The looks of the interior is the last thing I'm looking for when buying a performance car. All of the cars listed above had nice seats, nice shifters, and a good seating position. That is all I need. I'll look into nice interiors when I'm 55 and retired and want something comfy.

A buddy of mine had his clutch go out in his STI before mine started slipping. There is no point in that arguement. Clutches can go out easily on ANY AWD car due to launching. We should all know that now.

Th sound of the boxer engine is something that has to grow on me. I'm not a big fan of it. I've driven my buddies STI and grew tired of the sound before the 10-15 minute test drive was over. It's a nice sound, but on someones elses car.

I've owned two nicely modded Hondas and my EVO sounds nothing like a Honda. Hell....even a turbo Honda doens't sound the same. Not all 4 bangers sound the same. Plus that is why they make different types of exhausts. My N-1 I had on my ITR sounded nothing like a N-1 on a GST. My buddies EVO sounds nothing like mine. He has a JIC catback and I have a HKS carbon-ti.

I don't see how a STI looks more "grown up" compared to the EVO. The both have rediculously big wings, vents, scoops, and crazy body lines. Niether of the cars would be something you would find a normal person to go out and buy. Both have the "boy racer" look IMO. One is just more sharp and the other more rounded.

I don't know which episode of Top Gear you watched, however the episode on 5/30/2004 showed the Evo VIII MR vs STi, they all agreed that the Evo was the superior car on their track. Jeremy Clarkson quoted: "Even The Stig muttered one of his rare opinions; the Subaru is a nice boy's car, however the Evo is a man's car."

I'm not hating on either cars but I just wanted to know which episode you saw. The evo vs sti vid on video google showed a regular Evo (non-mr) vs sti

It's an earlier episode. I have the clip of that too, but i don't have a date. Jeremy definitely says that in the clip. I think the other one has a blue sti not the silver sti Wr1 version. check finalgear.com they have a lot of top gear stuff.

I have several episodes of Top Gear however I didn't see the segment of the Evo VIII vs the STi. I'm assuming that was an earlier episode because it wasn't the MR.

The REAL WINNER is the CONSUMER!!! Both are awesome vehicles and I have said it before Subaru and Mitsubishi are going to continue to out do each other and us as the consumer will reap all the benefits!

I would definetly own both cars if I had to money.

no doubt about it. The evo looks nicer than the tribeca looking sti. Depending on who is doing the testing each car will be ahead of the other in certain areas. For some reason a whole bunch of Evo 8 showed up here within the last 6 months and all have exhausts... they still sound like a four cylinder with exhaust. The boxer sounds great and the domestics here agree. I love both cars and have had the chance of being in both.... i'll take the 04-05 STI over all.

I feel that the greatest inline 4 cylinder is the sr20 hands down Maybe Im biased cuz I drive a genuine Nissan Primera GT when Im in Europe. The best AWD system outside AUDI has to be the Scoob's.... everything's longitudinally arranged like it should be...hence less power loss through the drivetrain. The Evo is a smarter car in terms of its electronic assistance ASM/AYC yadda yadda yadda... It needs to be to keep up with the average scooby driver. And in terms of looks....well my 01 GC just gets prettier and prettier and doesnt have a fat **** like these 2. Biased there too. Now as far as sound...the most important aspect BTW An Evo actually sounds like its WRC brethren moreso than the scoob. Trust me ive been to Rally acropolis. The scoob sounds too mild in its street form compared to the Evo. And the more I see these folks getting STI grocery getters and leaving them stock the more I wonder if Scooby enthusiast are getting soft

I have an sti... sti sounds cooler at times... but I still think the evo looks hands down more aggresive and better!
Seats are nicer too... At time I do wish I had an evo over an STI but what are ya gonna do. They are both nice cars.

Get the sti lowered, but the v-lip on the car and now it looks better than the evo imho....

New evo IV > the new look of the STI :-(
