HAha, one magazine picks the EVO, the other the STI. Typical battle, bottom line, the Suby is built better. The better built car lasts longer and is more enjoyable in the long run. Thats why I bought a WRX, cause they RULE! lol =) Just my 2 cents...

I loved the ending, "If you want a scalpel...get and Evo, if you want a hatchet...get the STI".

I believe that both cars are built just as good. They are going on the fourth production year and niether car has prooved to have major problems. I've got 46,000 miles on my car with close to 400 crank HP and I haven't had any problems and I'm about to make a little more come next week. : )

Cool, thats alot of power. What I meant was the interior and overall feel of the car. I love the EVO, don't get me wrong, but the build quality of the car feels, well...cheap. Subaru used better plastics with a more substancial feel. The shape and design feels more adult, except perhaps the newest version. Thats why I decided a Subaru was for me. A bro of mine had the clutch in his evo go out after 10,000 miles and he found rust in the bumper area after only a month of ownership! Top gear put it best..."The EVO is a great car, but when I drive home, I always find myself in the Impreza, always". Besides, even if my car only made 100hp, the sound of that Boxer motor is something of beauty. No matter how much power an EVO has, it sounds like a civic. Little touches like that make me feel like I choose correctly whenver an EVO pulls up and starts rev'n.

I would not say the EVO sounds like a civic!! I would say the boxer engine sounds alot better and I would agree that the STI seems like it is built alot better. I have had an EVO 8 and I am looking to purchase the 06 STI. As far as the clutch I went 24,000 miles and it was running strong(depends on the driver) with about 20 launches at 5k+, but I have seen cars in the Dealership with 4,000 miles needing a new tranny!!! I want the 06 STI but now I am really worried about the plastic brackets on the liquid filled motor mounts!! That is the only thing I am holding out on. I am going to wait a while to see what everybodies 06's do and how bad Subaru will deny the warranties with people bringing there cars in with broken mounts.

Is Top Gear on anymore?????? Last one I recorded was a while ago and now I cannot find it on anymore!!!

Haha, just my opinion. My bro has an 2004 EVO with an Apex-i exhaust, with no silencer that thing sounds like any other 4cyl on the street. Like I said, its just my opinion. As far as the motor mounts, remember why subaru did that. For a smoother ride, something Honda was PRAISED for no too long ago. Besides, if they do break, replace them with something else. I'm sure the aftermarket will have a ton of options for them.

Top Gear vids can be found in Google's video section. They have a few new ones as well.

I know it is just your opinion and I respect that!! As far as the motor mounts go, I do not want to worry about breaking a mount when the car will be stock for a little while(until I get used to it) and I will not be driving everyday. But when I do, I will be getting on it and I do not want to change out mounts on a brand new car!!! Plus I would have the warranty for at least 3 years and I talked to a couple of Dealerships that said if my tranny or engine acts up then it would void the warranty when I put to aftermarket mounts. When I start modding, I would do immediately(first mod). Do you think they are able to break easily or by launching all the time. I would not be launching alot, but I would be getting AWD for a reason. Is the tranny tough? The only thing I can compare to is a turbo'd eclipse and my 8. Trannies were okay, but not as good as from what I heard about the STI. Is this true? Should I just purchase the 05? or is the 06 alot better?

Thanks for the info on Top Gear. It was on Discovery Channel on Wed. for a while and now it is not. I was hoping it was just going through another season, but I think they took off the air.

Just looked at the link for Top Gear. That is the ****!!!!!! Thank you sooo much.

Have you read the new Road and Track? It is pretty interesting. Both cars are sooooo close. Still 13.3 on EVO and Still 13.0 on STI. It is one of the better articles that compare the two cars.

No problem. Well, the longevity of the mounts really depends on how you drive the car. Should anyhting take a poop on ya, you can always replace the parts with authentic Subaru stuff. I'm not very fond of the NEW Sti, I do however LOVE the 04's & 05's.
