Can you post a followup regarding the retune and shield install? What are your impressions and would you do it again? I don't need the noise. If the filter is reusable it should pay for itself after 8 filter changes.
if i put this in myself does this effect te car warrenty or do i have to get the subaru team to instal it (loacal dealership?) plz let me kno

I'll see if I can get the before and after graphs from Ed and post them up. I think Mike may have some of my before and after graphs. The problem was, I had installed a TD06-18g, I wasn't making very good power, my motor blew again, I installed a TD06-20g with hopes of gaining more hp. It didn't happen. WTF right? Even with the new 20g I was not maxiing out the MAF sensor. The most I could get out of it was 4.6-4.7vdc. Ed suggested swapping for a high flow intake. I wasn't until I did this that I started to achieve target numbers. That's why I say that the stock intake was a nuce around the turbo.

Sidenote: Unless you are having problems with flow restrictions, you are not going to see these gains. Subaru reported 8-12hp gains.

Was there something wrong with your stock intake box?

Was the filter gone, was there something lodged in it?

That would certainly be a cause for alarm. Are you trying to insult me?

forgive my newbie-ness, but it looks like adding an aftermarket intake doesn't do much in the way of performance gains, or am i wrong? i do like the fact that you are saying it makes the BOV a bit more noticeable.

Question Huh?

So call me crazy... but why do you still have the stupid fresh air intake on the car (and assume the the 'snorkel' is still in the inner fender???). They, at this point are useless and ugly.

Also, SPT and Subaru say a gain of "up to 40hp" on an STI with the higher boost levels and the WRX "up to 20 hp" with the SPT intake AND the SPT cat-back exhaust. Saw them in place back in St. Louis (at the Subaru intro to the '07's) on a Spec B Legacy and a Limited STI...

I'm sorry. I just read my post and it reads very confrontational... wasn't meant to come out that way ~ but, I am glad that stuff is out... makes for a MUCH cleaner engine bay!

Not to start a flame war here, but Ipozestu, you stated that your car almost felt slower after you re-set the ecu. That is more than likely true, and after it re-learns your car WILL BE faster up top.

And another note, I would put your fresh air snorkel back on and cut the end towards your factory air box at an angle so it flows cooler air towards the filter. I have the Cobb shorty and it looks nice with the snorkel still in it.

As for the hot air, let me remind you all that the amount of heat in that air is now-where near as high as what it's gonna get when it flows through that turbo...so adding the shorty is doing no-more harm than your factory airbox does.
