I don't like that e85 with no tgv's makes cold starts hard, I go to tahoe all the time haha

E85 cold start is tricky in general, but I've been working on it and have made huge improvements. Cobb finally released the appropriate parameters to allow us to work on the cold start issues.

Its because E-85 likes more compression. Build a motor for it and a lot of issues go away. Cold start is improved, along with fuel milage, and off boost acceleration (daily driving). You will see cars with minor headwork and resurfaced heads (or hybrid engines) perform better on E-85 than stock motors. This is due to a higher static compression and the fuel being burned more rapidly, the way it should be.

Higher compression definitely helps with off boost response with high octane fuels in general, but the cold start issue is specific to E85. Ethanol does not like to ignite in cold conditions, its mostly the 15% of gasoline that gets the engine fired initially. This means that you have to inject a lot more E85 to get a good cold start. Previously, Cobb's ProTuner software did not give access to the cranking and warmup enrichment tables which made it very difficult to get the car to fire up in cold weather. In the latest update, however, these maps are now available.

Thanks

I'm hitting 296WHP with my setup now and only a 16G, and that's only with a partial tune. With your setup and your 18G you'll go well over 300 no problem!

I have been contemplating on switching to e85, only thing is I only see one station that sells it in the CV. The only one I know of is in Modesto, downtown. Can someone let me know if there are others say in Manteca and Stockton? Plus any others in the area. Thanks and sorry for the thread jack.

OP:
Are there other fans (out of the frame) that were used for cooling?

Chris, I fill up in farmington at the shell station there all the time. i actually perfer that station over the modesto station. newly built, always fresh and good e85, plus their open 24/7. Pearson Fuels runs the farmington pumps.

I am a little sketchy about modesto pump on 9th street. they have ran out before, and had problems with the pumps and shut them down before too.

Both stations run about 2.69-2.89 a gollon
