ban suvs... if the stock scoops and vents are built in to the stock hood (not bolted in), then I would imagine that it's built in one piece. I'll find out definitly though.

rs-scooby... sorry these prices don't even include shipping to my store. If you can get a couple of guys together (doesn't even have to be Imprezas) to order a few hoods, you can definitly save on shipping. (I'll even try to combine it with other CF Hood orders I get here at the store).

jejunum... From what I know the Grade A (N1R hoods) are your regular Grade A hoods you can buy basically anywhere. Carbon Dynamic (the more expensive ones) are the same if not better quality that Fiber Images, ViS, and DG. Rumor has it that Carbon Dynamic was rated #1 at the 2003 Sema Convention in Vas Legas for Best Carbon Fiber. I will try to find some literature to back this up.

 

jejunum... Here's the info that I got on the hoods.

The N1R hoods don't come with the hood scoop, the Carbon Dynamic Hoods do.

I believe the weaves are tighter on the Carbon Dynamic hood but they could be the same.

The Carbon Dynamic hoods are polished underneath and have a better (different) clear coat.

All CF hoods are Carbon/Fiberglass (ViS, Fiber Images, Carbon Dynamic, etc.) For a 100% Carbon Fiber Hood (no glass) a hood would cost about $2,000 with all the labor involved to make a hood like that.

The weight between the N1R and Carbon Dynamic hoods are about the same but both are a lot lighter than stock.

Hoodpins are nessecary for all CF hoods because they are so light. You can get away with no hoodpins but I wouldn't go over 80mph. They do not come with the hood and are an extra $17.50 for a set.

Summary: the Carbon Dynamic Hoods are made better (more labor involved to extracts resins and such and are morre show quality hoods. The N1R is just your basic good quality CF hood.
