Charity Car Meet for Superbowl Sunday - all are welcome!
Hey guys, my good friend Chris called me last week and asked if we could spread the word. Every year, Club H20 (a national VW club with tons of local/national support and prescence) has a Charity Meet on Super Bowl Sunday - I have gone to it the last several years and the turnout is always huge, witha wide variety of cars and people ariving literally from across the country.
This year, the format is a bit different, and will be held at Jillians in Farmingdale. It begins at 10, Jillians opens at 11 AM. Chris enthusiastically inviting tons of otehr clubs to attend - here is a paste of his email to me (as originally posted on one of teh VW boards). All cars are welcome, donations are not required, but it a nice gesture for a good cause, and its a cool chance to meet and greet tons of car enthusiasts. Hope to see you all there!
Good news! I just got off the phone and have secured Jilllians
of Farmingdale as the location for this event for the next two
years. We will have the use of the lot (side lot next to front
entrance) and of a "coonference room" and all other facilities
within Jillians. The event will start at 10AM and will finish
whenever everyone wants to go home. Jillians will be opening
at 11am on Superbowl Sunday, so we will be able to hang out in
the lot until they open. Everyone will be able to eat together
at any of their bar/restaurants, and all bathrooms will be available.
The arcade, billiards and bowling will all be there to use also.
We won't be the only ones there, but it should be pretty empty
up until the game starts later in the day. We will also have
exclusive use of a meeting room from 11am - 12 noon in case we
want to be warm when making any donations for the JDRF. This
leads me to the next point....this year we will not be having
the donation/raffle format that we've had in prior years. This
year we will be accepting donations that you may be willing to
give out of respect for the JDRF. Mike Otten (JDRF board member)
will be on site to accept all donations directly.
Some changes for this year:
-No troopers.
-No raffle.
-No club affiliation with the promotion of this event. (This
event from this point forward will be an independent event. Anyone
willing to assist with it is more than welcome....think of it
as a total VW community effort.) Basically that means it is now
the Superbowl Fundraiser , NOT the ClubH2O Superbowl Fundraiser.
Stay tuned for details on directions for those who will attending
from out of state. Everyone is welcome to this event. Owners
of all makes and models can attend.....VW, Lexus, Honda, Nissan,
etc....invite 'em all.
Thank you to everyone for being patient with this.....and a thank
you to AK for their offer to assist. (Eurostyle & Brinskan...thank
you)
Stay tuned......
