Hi guys!! I went to Alamo Autosports in Arlington today just to snoop around some........They had headers and an uppipe for 450!!! That didn't sound to bad......They had a couple of EVO's up there and I asked the guy(not sure of his name)....What do you guys think of the EVO? There Great he says.....Granted I've heard the same.....My best friend is really getting close to buyin one so I asked if My 02 Rex could be made to keep pace(especially since I seriously doubt my friend will ever do any aftermarket)....The answer.....It will never Keep up!!!!I was like WTH!!Is that true?Is there nothing that can be done to my little Rex to match the speed of a stock or close to Stock EVO?IMO there's nothing a little money, time, and effort couldn't fix!This does tell me that Alamo autosports is maybe a little EVO biased..........Thoughts?

This kit is rated at 280hp. The evo is rated at 271hp...AND...the EVO weighs almost 200lbs more than the WRX. So my car will be lighter and have more power. I don't question the EVOs handling ability...since the thing drives like a go-cart...turns on a dime. I've driven one and liked the race car feel. The only thing that I've done to enhance the suspension are springs and tires...Eibach Pro Kit (lowered 1"), STi Titanium Front Strut Bar, 18" OZ Superleggeras wrapped in (225/40/18) ContiExtremeContacts.

From a bang for the buck perspective...keep your REX, carefully study your upgrade path for whatever hp/handling package you desire and you should feel pretty confident the next time you have a conversation with some punk who hasn't done his research.

Also consider that the EVO is max'd out with it's performance, 19psi of boost...you'd have to buy a bigger turbo, already comes with a front mount intercooler...would have to be replaced with a bigger unit. The list goes on and on and on and on and on.....

 

True!!!Hell I've seen all kind of stuff for the Rex to bring it up in horsepower and handling....It's just the guy totally just Blew it off like it wasn't even worth answering....the fact that they both OWN EVO's says alot...........I think that Club spec is nice!!!How much they asking for that if you don't mind me asking???BTW thanks for the responses!!!!

Hey Thanks Guys!!Good INFO!!!Well My friend bought the EVO....I can't blame him though he got it for 26K!!!With a sunroof, and all the goodies!!! But thats ok!!I've got a friend who can install stuff for me(or help me install!!)........So a few Goodies may Find there way to my Rex.......So I can make his look more like .If only my Budget were better........

 

I went to Fi-Systems Today..........WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!Jason and Steve were Really pleasent took there time and answered all of my questions!!!!On top of that I got a Ride in a New STI....Just Icing on the Cake!!!I just Can't see myself Goin ANYWERE else!!I felt right at home!!Anyway As soon as I got enough dough I'm gonna go off on my car!!! Like Dirty Style Boxing .........And I got a close up look at the APS stuff.........It looks Great!!!
