License Plate Legality
I sit legal to put your license plate in your windshield? My plate stripped the holes on my bumper and I want to put on a trim piece from Autospeed. Is a cop going to go out of his way to write me up for this or should I not worry about it.

I've gotten pulled over for other reasons and had my license plate in my front window and the cop didnt say anything about it. I would assume that as long as it is all clearly visible then your cool.

It depends, the State Troopers are the ones that are most uptight about it. I used to drive an older car with the front plate in the windshield and never got pulled over by Ft. Worth police. I went to Houston once and got pulled over by a Trooper who saw me while he was driving in the southbound direction (I was heading back north).

It all depends on the cop
I have mine secured to the windshield with two small suction cups I bought at Ace hardware. My friend got a ticket cause the cop said it could be a hazard if he was in a wreck since it wasn't secured to the glass.

It is a common misconception that cops have "quotas" to meet and that they have to give a certain amounts of tickets. They do NOT, it depends on the cops attitude, how much he cares, your attitude towards them also makes a big difference.
If you are nice to the cop and dont mouth off they wont go looking for something wrong, but if you pop off saying something dumb then he will find every thing on your car that isnt up to spec.
Not having a front license plate is only a fix it ticket, dont worry about it

Well, they may not call it a quota and they are careful not to have any memos or discussions using the term, BUT, they WILL have a meeting with you as an individual officer if you're not writing enough (or as group if they are trying to raise revenue) and say things like;"You need to try a little harder to (wink, wink) keep the streets safe, (nudge nudge). Lets' make an XTRA EFFORT (*ahem*) to 'raise awareness' of the traffic laws(*cough, cough*)."
things started going downhill when 'peace' officers became 'law enforcement' officers.

I got pulled over in Allen (Allen cops are dicks *ahem*) for no front plate... this was on my previous car a couple years back a (95 Probe GT that was slammed with rims, exhaust, NOS, limo tint.... yea, kind of a cop magnet). Fortunately I had the plate on the back seat, so I threw it up on the dash and acted like it always there (thank you, tint, for covering my ***). In the end he let me off when he determined that my car was otherwise ok ... but he used it as an excuse to run my license, registration, and insurance...
When I lived in D.C. I got a ticket for no front license plate as well... while my car was parked! $60 ticket that the district wanted to give me, even though I had VA plates... I never paid it.
