doing a survey for a class project regarding reclaimed land, which brought up the subject of Israel, the Jews reclaiming land that belonged to the Palestinians. First, let me add that I have nothing against Jews, almost got engaged to one, and have a ton of Jewish friends and appreciate their culture. With that said:


People believe that the Jews deserve to have Israel because it was once their land 45 billion years ago, with that being said, was it OK for the Jews to TAKE back their land with the help of the USA even though that land belonged to Palestine?

This would be like the EU helping Mexico reclaim California because the land originally belonged to Mexico. That's the same reasoning, right? Sure, there are some minor historical differences, but that shouldn't make a damn difference.

So, with all of that being said, should the Jews and USA have been allowed to take that land away from the Palestinians?

Please vote AND reply explaining your answer, the more info the better, and please, lets keep it on THIS EXACT subject for it is the only aspect I care about.

There was never an Israel so how could they take it back?

It wasn't the USA.

It was the UN.

 

Yeah, the US had a major role to play there. The US pours so much money into Israel, they even have better firearms then our troops have thanks to Uncle Sam.

 

Isreal was given to the Jews by England, not the USA. And yes, the tiny parcel of land granted to them in 1948 was right. The current form of the State of Israel is due to several attacks by palestinians, most notably the six day war in 1968 or 1972 I forget which, launched on Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. The Palestians were driven back into the own country by a much stronger and well trained Israeli army and the land was taken by Israel as a result of the invasion by Palestine. Now Palestine wants the land back that they claim is rightfully theirs, despite the fact they are the ones who initiated any and all wars between the two states in the past 60+ years, and apparently Israel is just supposed to give it back to them despite being rightfully theirs.

 

The US had little to do with the formation of the State of Isreal, however their military weapons and training methods are American.
