In all honesty, I don't think she did anything to sway the swing voters. She certainly did a good job of firing up those who were already going to vote for her. I also don't think Biden moved many swing votes either. I doubt we'll see any significant shift it the polls from this.
yeah, thats pretty much what the analysts were saying right afterwards, after 24 hours there won't be much talk of this debate

She would have done much better answering the questions instead of spouting out slogans and talking points. I think she failed to separate her administration from Bush. She did not go in depth at all regarding foreign policies or economics plans. I think she succeeded in convincing people she's not a retard a retard, way to aim high. It also didn't help that I found her accent really annoying.

I'm pretty disappointed from the debate because I did want to see some kind of train wreck. Biden and Palin were supposed to slip up, neither one did.

She was only "surprising" to me in that I did not hold high expectations of her maintaining decent flow & logical sense. Her fumbling moments w/ Couric were huge in my book, but she redeemed herself nicely tonite.

A bit off-topic here, but I wanted to comment on the moderator. I was kinda disappointed that Ifill did not allow them to respond to one another's comments as much as Lehrer did w/ the No. 1's last week. But then again, Lehrer said he had many more questions for them & that it was a shame they ran outta time. Tonite's debate covered a wider range of issues (which was good), while last week's had more verbal sparring (which was good, too). Hopefully Brokaw can find a nice balance.

So, in the transcribing Palin's answers at the debate, how are they going to spell nucular? Or is it nookyooler? For somebody who insisted on changing the debate subject back to energy you would think she'd learn how to pronounce a simple word.

And if she was going to talk about Afghanistan, she should have gotten McKiernan's name right. I'm sure he would have appreciated it.

I think she drops a mean talking point, has the arrogant "aww shucks" grin down pat, but outside of that she was saying the same empty jargon they've been saying for weeks. She'd make a great right-wing pundit or GOP press secretary. I can't see her in any other role in or near the White House.

AND She questions Biden's years of experience as a bad thing. I guess she hasn't looked at her running mate lately. Ironic...

Both did well, i think reps are breathing easier now, and dems might be upset palin didn't stumble at all.

palin cleanly stated she wanted to move on and forget the bush administration(i think everyone has learned from that, duh!) maybe you didn't watch the part where she talked about corruption and "finger pointing backwards"

for someone doing this for 5 weeks i'd say she did pretty good against a 30 year old veteran of Congress..

I agree that she did well. But I think if she's going to call out the Dems for sticking to "the last 8 years" agument, she should have at least gone in some depth on her campaign's plans. I have to side with Biden when he called her out for not discussing their plans for the future.

I've been listening hard for any firm answers on what their plans are for Iran, Iraq, economic crisis, etc. and I'm not hearing anything. They may or may not have great plans, but if they don't discuss them in these debates, the public will have a hard time distancing McCain/Palin from the Bush administration.

What happened to all the Mayoral and Governor experience?

All I hear are excuses for her.

She did a hell of a job not fumbling... But also did a very poor job with the topics and especially staying on topic...

It's preposterous that she could even say at the end that she liked being able to debate these topics when she spent so much of the night circumventing.

It's scares me that people are so proud that she didnt stumble and fall on her face. We are so proud that she didnt make an *** out of herself that we are calling it a win.... wow....scary. She was coached for the last few weeks and she had her 3 or 4 main discusion points that she consistently went back to. Biden on the other hand answered ANY question that thrown out at him. Now shes gonna go back in hiding and we won't hear her speak again anytime soon. I felt like it was high school debate all over again. Oh you know these four issues so stick to them... bring it back to these issues no matter what. Host - "Lets talk about climate change"... Palin - "blah blah blah" talk a little sh*t about Obama then change the discusion to how Obama is gonna raise taxes... or how John is gonna see the war through... all the while not giving any difinitive answers on how they plan on doing it. Skip around the question and talk trash about Obama was about all i heard the whole night. Biden called her out perfectly.. im hearing alot of "we are gonna change this and change that"... yet we didn't hear a single specific issue discussed on how they plan on doing it. Like i said high school or middle school... if you vote us in we will do this this and this... im not gonna tell you how we are gonna do it .. but we will! !! smile big, look cute ! ! !
Biden the entire night, cited all his facts with dates and issues and specific votes, while Palin basically made assumptions and accusations

Whats gonna happen when we send her over seas or ask her to talk with a foreign diplomat?? We are all gonna hold our breath and hope that she doesn't fall on her face or make a big blunder and start some foreign incident.

sorry for the spelling its 415 in the morning ! haha

she's hot....that's all.
I could sit and watch that debate again (volume off as I had to do earlier).

Not pleased with either side in this election.

Who gives a **** how the two candidates performed; mushy questions lead to mushy answers.
What is absolutely inexcusable is the **** poor performance of that Socialist Moderator.

All softball questions about short term problems.
How about asking real questions, such as:

"How do you propose to raise taxes?"
"Please point out the exact paragraph in the Constitution that address abortion."
What is your plan to punish those company owners, CEOs, etc, that have ****ed up our economy?"

The only question that remotely had a black or white answer was the question regarding gay marriage, and that's a non issue.

And the "Dumbest Answer of the Night" award goes to Biden for saying global warming is caused by man.

Yeah, the moderator sucked *****.

When the candidates started rambling about unrelated issues, the she wouldn't call them on it.

How about a real answer, instead of dodging the questions and talkin sh*t about the other parties candidate.
Also how about a real question such as:
" You plan on seeing the war through and winning it you say, how do you propose to do so? WHat are you going to do differently than W to win this war????"
or even
"Have you figured out what magazines you read on a weekly basis??? or is it still simply all of them.. anything put in front of you.??" hahahahahaha

And your answer on gay marriage didnt have a black and white answe.. biden said he was against marriage but for the rights of equality in same sex couples. mostly for it.. just not marriage...sharing health care and visitation rights ... Palin was againts EVERYTHING that has to do with same sex anything EXCEPT hospital visitation rights in her first answer... then on the follow up answer she said, "im with gov. biden on this issue." No shes not with him.. she skated around the issue. Shes AGAINST all same sex issues while biden and obama are not, so no shes NOT WITH BIDEN ON THIS ISSUE ! and no her answer was not black and white. She played on her words

And i like that question you suggest Paul, "How do you plan on punishing those CEO's" maybe we should go back to the Keating 5 and see how McCain plans on punishing them

what is there to win in this war? this war is over before it began. we went in there for the reason of WMD and there aren't any. the guy who we were scared of is dead, why are we still there.

there is nothing to win. we are losing and they are winning when they have a surplus and we have a deficit. bottom line.
