So who is headed to LA, MS, and AL to give aid?

I wonder who is going to give aid to the victims of hurricane Katrina.(???) I wonder if the Americans who give so generously to natural disasters in other countries will help out their fellow Americans.

Thoughts/ Predictions? I think Americans as a whole despise The South, and don't give a rat's behind.

Personally, as with all disasters, my calendar is booked.

I havent' been tasked to provide any humanitarian assistance yet, unless you consider that which required force.

That which I just missed out on: 1989 Bay area quakes, 1989 Hurricane Hugo, 1991 LA Riots, 1999 NW forest fires. I was in Ft Bragg in SEP '89 when Hugo hit, but others in my battalion were tasked to go help. I was in Ft Ord (Monterey), CA in Oct 89 for the Earthquakes, but I guess things must've been well enough in hand. I had just gotten out of the Army in 1991 when my battalion was sent to LA for the riots. In 1999 (or 2000?) I was in Kosovo when my sister battalion was sent to, I think, Wash state to fight fires.

I may be wrong but I think federal funding goes toward disaster areas as they are declared by the President. Not sure if that's happened yet but it most certainly will. But still, most Americans that despise anything south of the Mason-Dixon will think tax dollars are sufficient.

I think the real question is if other countries will be providing us aid in any shape or form? About all you can expect are letters and pretty construction paper cards from grade school children. A much appreciated gift from those too innocent and unable to provide money or help. It'll be a way for their hypocrite teachers to live vicariously through them while helping instill charity in their little hearts. They'll most likely be coming from 1st world countries that speak English... don't expect anything significant from anywhere else.

He has. I heard it yesterday evening on FNC.

Are you just going down there as a friend or are you being deployed? Sounds like a friendly act of kindness.

Since they haven't mandated an activation of the Inactive Ready Reserve, I'm guessing he's going down out of kindness.

It would be out of kindness. I've been out for 3yrs and don't expect to be recalled unless the Chinese hit our shores.

Cool, I wasn't sure if you were still in the reserves.

Angry Where's the international aid?!

You fothermucking Socialist Un-Americans.
You, and you know who you are, are ****ing pathetic.

You ***** and complain that the US gov't did do enough, contribute enough, soon enough when the tsunami wiped out all those poor folks.
You went on & on how the US owed these poor folks help.

Where is your ****ing voice now?!
Where are you demanding that the gov'ts of France, Germany, Brazil, or some other leech country contribute aid in our time of need?

You can finally use your right to complain for some good.
Write a letter to your favorite Socialist country & ask that they contribute some of their citizen's tax dollars/francs/dinars to help us.

I will concede, though, that it also pisses me off that no (although this may have changed jsut recently) countries have come to our aid. That is bullsh!t

I agree. It's like showing up to X-mas without any gifts to open even though you’ve managed to drop another grand on the entire family like years past.

I like to think of other countries as being the selfish male in a one-night stand. After they get their nut they simply roll over to sleep or get dressed and leave. We’re just a filthy ***** really…

I imagine we'll get blood from here or there but don't expect anything substantial from Asia, South America (that's not a communist anti-Bush ploy – same thing if China decides to “help”) or some European countries.
