like I said before.. GW beat McCain twice.. once in 2000 and again in 2008.
I still wonder what would have happeend without Palin. She did energize a lot of the base in the mid west, but they were already voting for McCain as it was.
If Romney was on the ticket and we had the financial crisis, and he stood up and told everyone why they were ****ing stupid and this is what REALLY needs to be done, we might have seen a President Elect McCain

I feel they would've still lost, but it would be pretty darn close at least.

Romney is who I would've picked, but evangelicals are protestants and they tend not to like Mormons. I think with Romney, the Mormon thing would hurt, but seriously, it's nothing like Palin being crazy. Romney would've given the reps huge support.

but I think without Palin, McCain really could have hammered Obama on being inexperienced and after the market crash, Romney could have taken charge and pulled the "I know my ****" card.
that might have been enough.

Yup... if you supported her, you're a ****ing moron...
Same people that are voting for Sen Stevens right now in Alaska even though he's been convicted on multiple counts recently.
"The vetting process was thorough..."

So it's cool to refer to people as "****ing morons" but not a word that was used to describe homosexuals and rhymes with beer?
I might have to take my advert $$ elsewhere....

I saw strait through her hockey mom act. After her first few stump speeches I saw a very ambitious woman trying to leverage her small town origin to turn people against the "Washington Elite" (i.e. democrats). Then she began to lead the Obama bashing movement and I saw a desperate woman with no class trying to act innocent while still being snarky and sarcastic at the same time.
She was a flash in the pan in politics. The Republicans, after they finish blaming and pointing fingers at each other, will make a case study out of this election. The will see that Palin is too far to the right, the experienced McCain didn't have a handle on the economy, and how Obama ran a monster of a campaign. Four years from now we will see a new Republican party and Palin will not be its presidential pick.

Anyways, back to what I said:
Moron
–noun
1. a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.
I'm sorry Paul, but people who love McCain and stand behind him for his values, his experience, and his wisdom... to stand behind him because of his policies, because of what believes in... those are normal people.
For people to jump on the Palin bandwagon, to buy into her, and they sure did, I mean by huge numbers. My mom has this white co-worker, in her late 40s, was a staunch Bill/Hillary supporter. Once Obama got the nomination she's was on board, not happy, but on board. Once Palin was picked, she was ALL over it.
So she was all over Palin because she's a woman? Cause people are saying "oh, she's JUST like me!!"... My response to that is WHY aren't YOU running for president?
She was arrogant, she was brash, she brought only one thing to the table and that was to pull the evangelical vote together. She's not intelligent, she's far from what you'd want to be in a country leading position.
So what now? Where are republicans going now? Are they to be the party of evangelicals or are they going to be more traditional on money and weed out the religion, returning to a more traditional party, a party slightly more center?
Center is a smart move, moving more to the right, in my opinion, is the wrong move. If the Reps want to put a woman upfront for Pres or VP there are plenty of of them out there other than Palin, with more experience and more central.

Yeah I wouldn't go that far either. They just bought into the old republican red meat. Plain still has plenty of fans no matter what.

Traditional Reps vs the new evangelical Reps of the past 15 yrs or so. It's not going to be pretty, we are already seeing this.
I feel the more center they are, the better off they will be. If they move to the right, they are going to be over whelmed vs a more and more progressive public.
Just how I see it, and I knew there would be bad blood in the Reps when I saw how much McCain lost by. This may be a country united in the near future, but it's going to be a Republican party divided.
Frankly, I'd like to see the Republican party move away from being the evangelical party as well. Something Collin Powell said on meet the press really stuck with me. Some Republicans were calling Obama a Muslim and an Arab. He is neither, but lets just say that it was true for a second. Would it make him any less qualify? The right answer is no.
Religion and politics shouldn't be mixed.

But regardless, I still stand by what I said. I'm not one to cower away, I do not understand why anyone would support Palin at all, especially now that a few reporters can say what they found out while on the trail. I WANT her to run in 2012, I will enjoy her utter defeat.

Republicans used to be the ones fighting for small govt, less taxes, more responsibility on the individual...
a war in Iraq, which we now know we did not need to be there, was a spending frenzy.
Patriot Act is NOT smaller govt. There are a few other laws and EOs that go against this concept.
Federal level bans on abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage... all things that Sarah Palin would've supported, Bush has supported and many evangelicals will support, is NOT small govt.
Wall Street bail out does not enforce responsibility. Bailing out American auto manufacturers does not enforce responsibility.
The list goes on. Sure, Dem's are against guns, they like to redistribute wealth, and they wouldn't mind giving health care to everyone... But that's at least some use of the money that benefits Americans. Iraq and bailing out wall street companies does not help Americans. Jobs will be lost regardless.
