Racial implications of a disaster: Where would you want to be when the big one hits?

So, if "the big one" as in a large 8.0+ quake were to occur, where would you want to be? Assuming damage/destruction is equivalent no matter where you are, which city would you want to be in during the aftermath, and why?

1)Oakland or San Francisco
2)Richmond or San Jose

WhyTF would u want to go to Oakland or Richmond? Especially with how far right you are. I'd join Vibe in Napa. Enjoy all the open Wine barrels Or at my house hoping that the Monticello Dam doesn't flood my house

Neither. Hopefully i'd be in my car to Sacramento by then. But if I only had a choice of being in the cities presented in option 1 & 2 when the earthquake happened, then i'd definitely pick option #2. I guess there a possibility of this actually happening seeing how I goto the Bay Area now and then.

Why option two? Because the likeliness of looting in some parts of Oakland are just as great in some parts of Richmond. You can basically apply the same reasoning to why there's looting in NO with the majority of poverished that were left behind. Except this time they'll be taking the initiative among themselves. I can assume this because the crime and poverty levels are higher there, and because people have looted and rioted cities for much, much less (Rodney King).

But at least with option #2 I’m not potentially stranded in San Francisco if all the bridges give way. If that were the case it would force everyone to bottleneck south which would create huge problems. It may take some time and anybody may become desperate/crazy enough to loot the City and immediate area(s) they happen to be in. Regardless of if people looted or not, people tolerance levels would be on a knifes edge if that were the case. Not a good place to be. And even if i'm in San Jose with option1 assuming this happens, then i'm already ahead of the pack and damn near to Tracy by then.

Assuming all the interstates haven't gone to complete ****, me and my wife are still in one piece, and nobody needs saving in my immediate area with option 1, I can just drive West as fast as I can to play arm-chair quarterback by watching the news from my family room in Sacramento. I may be in traffic for hours on end and road-rage may be at an all time high. But at least I’m alive and making it to safer ground one inch at a time.

And even if I were forced to stay in one of those cities i'd still pick option 2.

Is that two questions? Or two possible answers to one question...I thought it was two questions...

1) Oakland because I could get east more easily.
2) SJ because I could get south easily and proximity to where my mom lives so I could find her as easily as possible.

Speaking of which... I just read that there is greater than a 2/3 likelihood of a MAJOR earthquake hitting the Bay Area in the next 30 years.

Yeah that's gonna suck

We had a 5.2 a few years ago just 3 miles from my house about 2:00 am, .
Not much structural damage anywhere with this one, but lotsa broken nicknacks.

I'll go to Oaf's. Don't worry I'll bring an air mattress and my dog is house broken.

Screw S.F. and Oakland. I think I'll be safe in Discovery Bay. If some low life should attempt entry into my house they'll be on the receiving end of a Benelli M1 Super 90.

'05 I-club earthquake meet! or '06

I'd go with Oakland or SJ, that much closer to getting outa the bay area. Imagine SF after a 8+?, f-ing chaos.
