Pre emptive strike against N Korea?

If NK can get a Longdong 2 to actually fly & hit a target, should we, the USA, conduct a pre-emptive strike against N Korea, if they make any sudden moves with said rocket/missile?

I would say we should back Japan and S Korea in any decision they make to do a strike on NK. But considering our current situation in terms of military activity, I think it would spread us very thin to be the initiators of an attack like that.

Right after I posted this, I found this story on Yahoo...

I think it's funny how NK is trying to turn it into a NK vs. USA conflict, the administration and the rest of the world don't seem to be havin' it though.

From what I understand it's the US that's turning this into a NK vs US conflict. Bush needs something to make himself look like a good guy again.

I don't think Japan's SDF is supposed to have any marked offensive capabilities.

How so? Its hard to believe you've given any thought to the matter if you think that. They want direct negotiations with us to remove economic sanctions and such. They think threats and shooting missiles is the way to do it.

from what i understand thats one of the dumbest comments i've ever heard! yeah their first rockets fail and yes we have the ability to shoot down ones that actually fly, but n.k. wants a war with us so bad! he has for YEARS!!!!

why are americans so dull to the people that want to kill us??? but then when we actually try to defend ourselves, they whine about it? holy sh** it is retarded!

sorry

this is just a perspective of a u.s. army soldier

I have been thinking the same thing for quite some time now, getting tired of all the *****ing and whining...

The last I heard our missle defense system was not fully operational, is that no longer the case?

umm yeah that is not the case! i have a friend that is stationed in alaska at one of the missile silo's and they are somepletly functional! and on hight alert! that base and the base in japan would be the two places we'd fire from to intercept commie kim's missle's!

my buddie's on his way to the japan base (he's in the air force) but i haven't heard anything about their missle's not working!

maybe its just a stupid liberal media story

i would have to second this thought. when you say "they" are you saying americans, cuz they are the first to whine about troops killing people, but apparently its ok if americans are killed in action....what a bunch of crap.

No, i don't think we should bother with NK riight now. what we need to do is bring our troops home and let the middle east fix or destroy itself. then when we have our crap in one sock we can work on making NK glow in the dark.

fyi - navy guys view of things

we have ships in the sea of japan with aegis systems. a missile hitting u.s. land should not be a concern

in my opinion i dont think those missiles failed. the NK's accomplished their goal. they needed to test the guidance system and thats what they did. they didn't need to hit something to prove that the system works

yeah with a little more thought about i agree with you that they didn't fail. and i do agree we need to bring our boys home, but not yet. if we do that now we'll just be in there agian in 5 or 10 years fighting the same war! what i do think is we should just use our beloved air force and blow the ****ing country to bits then sweep the rest with our rifle's but i'm a DOGFACE! so i have that mind set i guess! lol

well, being a bubblehead i would prefer launchin tomahawks until the middle east is underwater but as long as the job gets done. we need to stop destroying buildings then building a new one. LEVEL THEM and put a SMILE on your facce while you do it.
