That had to have been a somber, surreal day.

 

To say the very least. I highly suggest going.

I toured Auschwitz and a death march camp in Germany a few years back. The reality begins to set-in as you see the operating tables with a series of drainage spouts and loose concertina wire in the quads urging jews to kill themselves via jolly roger signs. And that's just as I walked through the gates of the death march camp...

 

I may be accused of being a Polyanna (ignoring all of the bad things in life), but I don't know if I could handle touring those facilities.

I change the channel whenever there's something on the news or a Discover/TLC channel about an unhealthy baby or child.

I am fully sympathetic. I don't need to be reminded of the depths people can sink to and the trevails that the German Jew suffered.

 

Oh. so are you saying that we have gotten back some healthy nationalism, without the negative aspects of Hitler's Germany? I'd agree.

Bush doesn't want to kill our so-called enemies, he wants to get them enrolled in fricken welfare. He doesn't even want to kick out those that are here illegally, but rather give them drivers licenses! Wake the heck up!

I also think this is a little extreme... but if you don't allow the 'how could you think that?' 'you're a fu**ing idiot' replies to get to you, it is quite apparent to see the general similarities.

Yes, Bush has'nt ordered the indiscriminate killing of a race, but that doesn't mean his actions are free of guilt. Making this comparison angers people who support Bush and those who are emotionally impacted by the mere mention of Hitler, and those people cannot even get past the obvious differences and therefore cannot see the similarities.

mmboost's reply pretty much sums up my thoughts- I'm surprised nobody has responded to it... must be a fair, logical comparison....

And to those who say to leave the country, you are only suggesting that the country should become even more neo-conservative, and those that disagree with our leader should not be part of the nation... Our country was built on this, and other similar freedoms. If there was not a party that disagreed with the current state of things, we would continue in the same direction, with nothing to keep things in check.

So, if we had a liberal president who you disagreed with, and you insisted on comparing them to michael moore, etc, would you see it fit that I ask YOU to leave the country... I don't think so...

We are allowed to disagree, but like it has been said before, this comparison doesn't do much for our cause, as the emotion involved prevents the actual similarites from being clear to see. It also feeds the notion (which some of you seem to believe) that all liberals think in this extremist way, and therefore cannot be trusted.

The similarities are there, I'll give you that... but I agree, this may not be the most 'tasteful' of comparisons, in many people's eyes...

 

Oh, wait, Salty replied to mmboost while I was writing that... but as I expected, no real refutation, just the typical lighthearted jab from Salty. Is it me or does he seem to do this whenever a good point is made? It's like it's his job to degrade the opinions of those he disagrees with....

Why not try to engage in a real argument- are you afraid that his point just may stand up?

 

It's the easily manipulated pot smoking tree hugging hippies that don't bother to think for themselves and hate society for reasons unknown even to themselves. It's people that complain about everything non-liberal, yet have no solutions to offer to the problems THEY see.
