"Patriots"

I have a bone to pick with all you American flag flying, blind-alligence giving, overly-religious zelots who call themselves patriots. The truth is, you could not be further from being patriotic.
I see you get angry everytime someone says something isn't right about our government, as if it's a crime to disagree with the people in charge. It's like you think America is a religion; you take whole-heartedly anything the government says is so. The meaning of being a patriot is not just loving your country and obeying the powers that be. Being a patriot is about constantly evaluating the government and deciding weather or not it is acting in the best interest of the country. I don't know the exact quote, but a TRUE patriot named Thomas Jefferson said that those who show a blind alligence to the government and who don't question the actions of the government will be the downfall of a true democracy. So all of you republicans, who get angry everytime someone says somthing bad about Junior, realize that following him around is like the blind leading the blind. Have you ever seen a clip of lemmings running off of a cliff just because the first one did? ...Junior jumped first and all you republicans are in line to go next.

There's nothing wrong with having a flag...unless you incesently use it as a symbol of how good of an American you are. For instance, posting that you have a flag waving and implying that you'd beat the s*** out of someone who did something to it. Things like that are why 95% of the world hates Americans right now...and no matter what your political stance, it's never good to have the whole world against you.
Also I should clarify that I'm not attacking the flag in anyway...just a group of people who watch the O'Reilly factor and feel that anyone who disagrees with Bill should be locked up...that group of people tends to over-use the American flag as a symbol of superiority rather than the symbol of freedom and equality it's meant as.

You know what I think sucks? People driving around and/or displaying ripped up, faded flags. It's so ironic that these people are trying to show support for their nation and then totally disrespect the symbol. I love the flag and I love my country. That is why I am willing to talk about ways to improve it, and discuss errors I believe we have made.
