Promises already broken by Obama (to name a few):

- Campaign financing

-“sunlight before signing”

-no pork, no earmarks in the stimulus plan (AKA Welfare plan)

Those are just from the top of my head, I can dig up some more if you need.

don't have to dig too far, and on top of that, you're making stuff up... or else taking Fox news as your reference source...

Since when was any politician honest, lived up to his word and never ever lied? LOL I still say no matter what president came into office was gonna have a hard time fixing what damage was already done. I think anyone who stepped in to the shoes as president would have major troubles no matter what.

this is going to turn into right versus left, obama versus bush, so we might as well lock the thread now

Politics, its always D or R (dumb or retarded).

I'm fed up with both as they are one and the same....I vote third party, if more people did this the public would actually have a voice! Until a revolution happens, the major corporations and campaign contributors will continue to run this country (into the ground).

^ totally. or until aliens invade earth. i know that sounds like a joke, but the only time people ever unite is to fight against a larger invader. for example, american indian/native american tribes all fought each other til the whiteys came in. then they banded together. same with the asians, they all fought each other til the whiteys came (french and english colonizations in Philippines and India, respectively).

i think we're seeing a trend - the real problem here is (you fill in the blank)

for those offended of my use of the term 'whitey', i meant it in the nicest way .

no homo.

For the fact of the matter, it is not that we expected anything different from Obama or that he was a life saver. It is just annoying and frustrating to see someone stand there and make promises just to get that vote and shocking to see that so many people actually believe him, referring to him as their savior and hope for life; in reality, he is just someone who can talk well. I am all for hope, but sometimes you just have to look at the real picture instead of daydream of what is not likely to come anytime soon. Obama so far has been a lie and a disappointment in my books.

you sound surprised. how is this different from any other politician? replace Obama's name above with anyone who has ever taken office, and there you have it. welcome to politics.

how do politicians get elected? with smooth talking and false promises. so this thread is only proving that the dems were just better politicians (which has nothing to do with aptitude) than the repubs this time around. the repubs were better politicians than dems in 2000 and 2004 (well, 2000 was a bit of a fiasco, but you get my drift).

also, we can sit here all day and argue whether or not obama will fix the economy singlehandedly, but what good will that do. its not the government that caused the economic collapse. it was greed on the part of the people. sure, the government can set interest rates and laws that try to maintain a healthy economy, but its up to the people (mortgage lenders, wall street) to not exploit and abuse that system.

FACT CHECK: Obama's words ring hollow

OBAMA: "We have already identified $2 trillion in savings over the next decade."

THE FACTS: Although 10-year projections are common in government, they don't mean much. And at times, they are a way for a president to pass on the most painful steps to his successor, by putting off big tax increases or spending cuts until someone else is in the White House.

Obama only has a real say on spending during the four years of his term. He may not be president after that and he certainly won't be 10 years from now.
