You do realize why food is cheap? Cheap labor = illegal immigrants. Sad, but true reality.

My dad and other farmers that I know pay our workers decent salaries. (about 45k/yr). When we sell our crop(walnuts in my case), we're given such a low pay because the people (Mariani Nut Co., Diamond, Sunkist, etc) who we sell our nuts to have to compete with China. China gets to pay their laborers for even less than the illegals that are in the U.S. Basically for those that compete with China it comes down to trade. China "trades" us walnuts for so much cheaper than we(the U.S. farmers) can afford to sell our walnuts for.
So SOME food is cheap because of the cheap labor, but this is usually either really small farmers or large AgriBusinesses that employee these people, knowingly. The unethical farmers.
If all that makes any sence.

-Kuwait is sending 400,000 gallons of oil, for free.
-Saudi Arabia is sending something like 10 million dollars
-Canada has sent water purification equipment, hundreds of doctors and nurses, and search and rescue personnel
-Cuba, yes, Cuba, volunteered to send 100 doctors, but was turned down by the state department
-Pakistan has sent 10 million dollars
- there were several other donations sent by approx 20 other countries also, i just can't remember them all right now

When someone mentions a barrel of oil, are they refering to a 55 gallon drum? If so, that means Kuwait is sending just over 7K barrels. I guess that's a lot. We did liberate them after all. I think Saudi Arabia could reach a little deeper in their pockets than just $10Mil. Arn't they super rich? Canada is contributing a lot. I just read a thing on them. And people say the world hates us....Ha! I say.
