True, it just goes to show that the "right-wing" republicans that are so different from the damn "left wing" liberals aren't so different.

OK...what I wrote above may not be 110% correct, but I'll settle for 100% any day.

Then, the contract was so lucrative that the business no longer qualified as a "small business", the contract was cancelled, and the tooling got yanked and sent on to the next contractor.

So back to the contracts...

From the article:

"The move follows criticism in recent weeks by minority businesses who said they were paying the price for the decision by Congress and the Bush administration to waive competition rules for many of the larger recovery contracts."

Dumb and dumber, is it wrong to expect fairness and equality. Or do you think that waiving competition rules is a good thing? For a guy who follows a party that clings to individual liberties and less big govt, you sure seem to love totalitarian ideologies.

I think the most important aspect of rebuilding the Gulf region is to do it as quickly as possible, while getting the most bang for my money.
Sorry, that's our money.
If that means that a lesbian-owned construction company misses out on a contract, so be it.
However, Bush, Inc needs to be aware that cronyism should be avoid, when ever possible.

But I thought giving all the work to Bechtel and KBR/Halliburton was the only way to do it- weren't they just telling us last month that no other companies can do this work?

Considering that KB$R lost 1/3 of the equipment it was supposed to protect in Iraq (GAO report) I think "most bang for the money" should perhaps now be avoided.

I think foriegn logistics are a little different to deal with than domestic. I don't know if "rosies' remodeling service" would fair too well in Iraq or pakistan.

I see your point, but that IS what they go by...asian (of asian decent), caucasion (of european decent), hispanic (spanish and native south american decent), native american, african-______ (fill in the blank, of african decent). I mean...if we go with nationalities, then white would be german, italian, etc...asian would be japanese, chinese, etc...hispanic would be mexican, cuban, etc...sometimes they make those distintions, but in the broad sense people are characterized in surveys by the continent their ancestors are from.

So Europeans created the USA, so doesn't that mean that true Americans (when referring to the USA) are white?

Race is a construct with no basis in science or fact.
