Are you kidding? McCain is a terrible public speaker. He sounds like he just rolled out of bed and forgot his notes every time I hear him talk. Barack's public appearance mops the floor with McCain and Bush.

Take that for what it's worth, but Barack trounces McCain in public speaking. And spare us the handful of clips where Obama actually does stumble in a speech. McCain sounds like he's half asleep with all the charisma of reading a dictionary.

this is one reason why i refuse to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.

http://www.nowpublic.com/world/sarah...it-controversy

in a nutshell, if a woman is raped, Sarah Palin forces the female victim to PAY for her rape kit.

so, lets see... you get raped by some evil piece of s***, you go to the hospital to get checked out and to make sure you are not pregnant, then as you're leaving the hospital, they hand you a bill for the check up and clean up.

WOW.

i cannot wait til this utter piece of trash of a female is defeated and left out in the cold.

this isnt a matter of republican versus democrat. this is a matter of common decency.

for all of those who would say 'oh, thats a reasonable thing to charge the female to pay for it...' imagine your mom/daughter/wife/girlfriend were just raped, she then has to go to a hospital and get checked over by a bunch of strangers, and SHE was forced to pay the bill (which ranges from $300 upto $1200).

yeah. how does it feel then?

I think paying for the rape kit is nothing compared to getting pregnant and being forced to have the baby of the person who raped you.

What scares me nearly as much are Sarah's quotes on teaching creationism in schools. (Well, who knows what her position is now.) Just to keep things consistent, I hope schools are forced to teach several different views on the myth of dinosaurs, perhaps the power of prayer could be taught at med schools, too.

The possibilities are endless...

CNN Documents Palin's Truthiness Problem...

i do agree that there could easily be far worse things. but, holy crap. cut the person some slack. they've just been thru a horrid experience, why make it even worse?

beyond that, i simply refuse to vote for McCain/Palin, but would prefer to have actual reasons versus just 'eh, EFF them republicans...'

now, i do NOT like the other option really. Obama/Biden is certainly not who i'd like to see on the ballot.

but, this is a vote for the 'lesser of two evils.'

True, but there's a lot of those. I think people said that about Bush/Cheney too.

I agree with Gagan on the whole school vouchers thing. If you CHOOSE to pull your kids out of public school, you choose not to utilize the monies you payed in. I know it's a bit Socialist, but taking money from public schools is not the answer IMO.

It will not make public schools perform better to compete. That is not the way they are set up. They don't think like a business like private schools do. It's a shame, because they probably should.

Regardless, I think that relying on any school alone, public or private to teach your children is lazy and irresponsible. My parents took the time to help me with my school work and make sure I understood it. I think it is the parents role to take some responsibility in the education of their children.

I also think that schools have no business teaching my children about sex, but that is whole different subject.

I concur.

Ya think???? So many of our problems circle back to a global lack of responsibility. People seem to think that they simply "insert child to receive education" and some have even sounded like they treat it like day care.

This is probably a very touchy subject, most likely due to so many differences in beliefs and perception. My only thing is - I would think it's safe to say that MOST parents shy away from this subject and don't do a good jorb of making the child understand. This is stupid, but what I have heard from friends who are parents. I don't have children but I don't know how I would approach it. I guess all I am saying is.. Who's gonna do it? When people fail to be responsible, silly laws are put into place to try to coerce them into being responsible. Or something.

For MOST parents, sending their kids to day care (school) will be enough. Teachers are babysitters and schools are where they should get all of their information.

That's not enough for my family.

I think I have pretty good communication with my daughter... at least until she becomes a teenager.

I think that's where a lot of people get caught. If you don't have an open line of communication with your kids, you can't create one out of thin air when it's needed for important issues.

"How was your day?"
"Fine."
"What did you do at school today?"
"Nothing."
the end.

For us it's the same thing with watching TV and eating dinner. We spend that time with the TV off together at the table as a family talking about our day. That continues to be a struggle, but I think it's important.

I won't have a problem talking about sex my daughter when it comes time. She's already had questions and we have discussed it without getting graphic. She has come to be comfortable asking questions and knowing she will get an answer, not just a, "because I said so".

My wife is half Paki and therefore it can be inferred that she is inherently racist against Indians. It would never work.
