McCain/Palin '08 Ticket discussion
I have to say it is very stupid because it is a moral choice and the president should have no right in making a decision on such a policy. It should come from the states(they don't have much to decide on anymore) but as it is covered in the constitution.
Oh and I like her because she may be the most normal person we have had in an election is a few decades.

I thought her speech was good. I would have liked her to tell me more about her/their plans and less about attacking the other candidate but what can you do?
Oh yeah, and also, what are you gonna do? Buy the kid a damn chastity belt? Kids have sex. Sometimes they get pregnant. I think this is a separate issue from her ability to act as VP or even from her ability to parent, although that shouldn't be an issue since she ain't my mama or yours!

So teaching about safe sex, condoms and birth control is important, and it WORKS!
She says she's NOT for sex ed in school, not for condoms. She's for absinense only. Well, that didn't work.
I guess my biggest issue will all this, and yes I know and agree it's a family issue, is that most of GOP, what I like to call the social conservatives, conservatives cause it's "cool" or "in" amongst the neighborhood, town or area, and church group... THEY have constantly preach about how sex ed shouldn't be in school, and how it's the parents responsibility to teach their kids, and the government/school needs to stay out of it... well, she didn't do a good job of that, and I HATE that partisans are backing her up on it. I feel it's VERY hypocritical.
I watched it, and I'm not falling for it. She sounds like any soccer mom from contra costa county... Social Conservatives. Grrr!
That goes for Social Liberals too... ****ing people who want handouts...

I do find it funny that the conservatives and angelicals are backing her so much. If it was Biden's daughter that was unmarried and pregnant it would be such a different story.....

They're all a bunch of fanboys that will twist things any way they can to rationalize their choice. Even Palin herself buys into it. All she did was dog on Oboma like she's not some noob from Alaska.

As if the other side is not. Frankly it's about time someone dogged on the Big O. He's had a ticket to ride for over a year. The media put him in an omnipotent position for no real good reason. Now the spotlight has shifted. It's good to have mud slinging.

I never said the Dems didn't twist their reasoning either, "they're" was meant to encompass both parties. It's never good to have mudslinging. That's bull**** politics and it's immature. Keep topics on policies and plans. No one needs to here about McCains first exwife or Palin's pregnant teen or Oboma's minister. None of this is relevant. Candidates use that kind of stuff to prove someone else has poor character, but just bringing that stuff up shows poor charactor. This isn't the Maury keep the name name calling and unmarried pregnant daughters out of politics.
Mud slinging is only effective if you're backing up your claims. It's not good enough to say "I support education" if you can't explain just how you'd do that. It's not good enough to say "I'll bring change" when you voted with our **** poor president 95% of the time.
Granted, while Obama stated some general terms for how he was going to engage in energy reforms, tax breaks, etc, he still has to go a little deeper into just what he's going to do. Even still, he at least Obama and Biden made an effort to explain how he'll bring about change; all I saw from the RNC this week was constant trash talk and hypocritical nonsense. Examples of said hypocrisy:
Palin: "I said thanks but no thanks to the 'bridge to nowhere'". Fact: she accepted all $237M in funds, then changed her mind after being pressured, and still kept the money.
McCain: "I'll bring about change." Fact: (I know I already stated this, but) McCain voted *with* the president 95% of the time, including bills to f over education, increase taxes, and waste yet more taxpayer money.
I think Jon Stewart said it best in his interview with Mike Huckabee last night (Thursday, Sept. 4):
"So, what you're telling me is that the only party that can fix our nation's problems is the party that spent the last eight years getting us into them?"

I won't be voting in this election because neither party/candidate deserves my vote. We have a party of ideas that doesn't stray to much from where we are today and party of ideas that doesn't fall into the spectrum of reality. This leaves me stuck, fantasizing about a utopia that will never exist or accepting a dilemma I already have. I rather neither of them. I will say this though, if Biden were running without Obama it'd certainly be more promising. I can't get over elections in the last 16 years. Not a single candidate worth leaving the house for. What happened to the JFK, FDR, Eisenhower days?
I could not possibly agree more. Partisan politics and ignorance will kill this country well before terrorism, global warming or abortions ever will. People who adhere strictly to one political party are more a disservice to democracy than those who are completely apathetic but complain or criticize government. Partisan politics have caused more political retardation than anything imaginable. Abortion is a prime example of that. I can't stand big government whatsoever. That said what some 16 year old who ****ed up on prom night did does not weigh on my conscience at all. Would I ever want my potential child to be aborted? Hell no, of course not but I will never have to worry about that.
