I may have to see this one when it comes out. I hope Clint Eastwood captures the whole story well. Seems like they capture General Tadamichi Kuribayashi well according to the preview: http://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/iwojima...ler/large.html
I haven't read the book "Flag of our Fathers" but I heard it was excellent. Clint Eastwood has been working on two films centered around the novel "Flag of Our Fathers." One covering the American side to open in October and one cover the Japanese side in December. The trailer is combination of both movies

Looks very good... kinda wonder if there's some hidden agenda to bind common history with Japan to form a stronger future union given where the world is headed... kinda like how guys who got into fist fights in school sometimes ended up being close friends...
Probably not, I'm just insane

I think this already has happened, even with some of the older Japanese. Take my wife's grandfather... he was a foot soldier that fought the US and China. He has an old issued gunto sword that's all bent out of shape for reasons he won't talk about. He's very pro-western now and has been for sometime. Same thing applies for the other side of the family that's still alive, including her 98yr old great grandmother that was a grown woman during WWII. My father-in-law would love to see these movies.
