If the indictment does say that he chose not to participate in terror activities against America or Israel and instead to just fight the Northern Alliance and this is not a disputed fact then ya I think he should get a lesser sentence.

Should he receive clemency?
FreeJohnWalker.com says argues that many Americans have fought in other countries' civil war, which they claim is what JWL was doing.
However, they fail to mention that in the examples given, the US wasn't involved in the fighting.
