I think Cash, amoung all of the people that might understand the process and concept of death, probably understood it pretty damned well. He may have had a few more recordings left in him, but his wife and family, far as I know anyway, had already gone away. Not a whole lot holding him here anymore.

I'm glad he got the recognition that he did for Hurt, just to let him know that he was still appreciated even at 71. Kinda makes it easier to go.

Yeah, totally sucks

Both Cash, and John Ritter went yesterday... Both are legends in their own way... who can forget Three's Company? They even have it in europe and such... damn shame.

I knew that. I was just wondering why Black Shadow was smiling. NM.

Yeah, that sucks.

JC was a legend. Too bad he didn't get an MTV Music award few weeks back.

John Ritter was great also. I remember the days watching "Problem Child" back in Moscow. Was the second movie after Police Academy I learned English from.

That's cuz the VMA's are all "pop"-oriented. However, a good number for the nominees and the winners gave their props to Johnny Cash, regardless. I haven't heard or barely heard any of his music, but all I know is that he paved the way for a lot of the music I listen to today.

Johnny Cash was the man. All the way to the end. The last recording (4 or 5) with Rick Rubin as producer are great. Not to mention the earlier stuff "I walk the line" or "Ring of fire" etc etc.

he'll be sorely missed.

Johnny Cash was a true American legend. He had the most haunting and spell bounding voice that I have ever heard.

Old George Jones(Another legend) said that Heaven will be a better place with the addition of Johnny Cash. He is correct.

I was shocked, but the years of drug abuse finally caught up to him. His beloved wife passed not to long back, he probably gave up after that.

RIP man in black.

I think because I fixed the link for the pics. red X's at first.

Yeah, losing John Ritter sucks too. I grew up watching Three's Company Re-runs.

I'm not a country music fan by any means, but I do like some of Cash's music.

I have a tremendous respect for him, because of the hard life he lived, the chemicals he injested, and the aura he had.

How many musicians today get totally wasted and have concerts inside prisons? The big pic on the top was from San Quentin in '69.
