Jesus was a Communist
I watched part of the History channel's 'Ten Commandments' show last night. Does anyone else find it ammusing that the first Christians followed the communist ideals layed out in Mark's Communist Manifesto before it was even written? They lived in communes based on an equall division of all resources among all families.
But somehow being a 'Christian' in America means hating communism/socialism...

Those were JEWS and JEWS OFTEN STILL LIVE IN COMMUNES!
Anyway, Jesus was for the common good BUT NOT AT THE COST OF FREE WILL AND LOSS OF MORALITY and INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS. I think Jesus would have liked a functional (not Marxist) form of communism.
Here's a challenge: show us just one communist government that extols Christian values.
com·mu·nism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kmy-nzm)
n.
A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.
Communism
A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.

So you don't like absurd inflamatory posts either Helladumb?
Anyway, my point is more that the utopia that Marx thought of and the utopia drawn up by the original Christians are one and the same...everyone helping each other selflessly. Marx thought the way to get there was to force it upon people economically. The Christians thought the way to get there was to scare the s*** out of people by threatening death and hell if you break rules...

Jesus and early Christians believed in a form of communalism more in line with socialism. Hording and accumutaing excessive wealth, forgetting about the poor, and religious-political rigidity were all tenants lambasted by Christ and his followers.
Moral of the story? There are plenty of "liberals" who follow Christ
Happy Easter, and Im out
