Carbon dioxide is carbon dioxide. The only difference is which reaction created it.

Matter can't be created or destroyed.
There's a finite amount of carbon on this planet; the amount present today is the same amount that was present XXX million years ago.

The carbon in fossil fuels came from __________?
this is the same reason the electric car is a joke... it's all energy conversion, and each time energy is converted from one form to another there are losses.

waisted sunlight + wasted wind + new infrastructure + time = renewable electrical energy

this is true, and when we have these facilities producing enough energy then electric cars will be much more viable. until then, hybrid seems to be the best bet.

i think series hybrid, like the volt, will be the interim answer.

Lahood's Idea of a National Mileage Tax Nixed

Imagine that.

President Barack Obama will not adopt a plan to tax motorists based on how many miles they drive.

President Barack Obama will not adopt a plan to tax motorists based on how many miles they drive. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs commented about Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood's proposal to tax people by how many miles they drive instead of raising the federal gasoline tax. Friday, Gibbs says the tax will not be the policy of the Obama administration. LaHood said the gasoline tax that pays for the federal share of highway and bridge construction can no longer raise enough money to keep up with the nation's transportation system. Other transportation experts see the vehicle miles traveled tax as a long-term solution and some states are talking about such programs. LaHood says he is firmly opposed to raising the federal gasoline tax in the surrent recession and was just trying to think outside the box as a way to fund the nation's infrastructure.

I agree, I'm all about powerful cars and bad *** motors but I don't see a reason to throw any energy option out the window. I'm for sticking wires in lemons if it'll make some energy and the output beats the price. Price being critical, a key component I'm undecided on drilling in Alaska.

as if global warming is avoidable.
i dont disagree global warming but i'm sure ice age is on it way as it has every 60,000 years or so (dont know the exact #).

if they tax carbon, they better make sure 100% of that money goes directly to funding for some kind of adaptation or prevention research...but thats very unlikely to happen just like the missing billions of the bailout money.
