good video look like priv contractors...(judging by the vehicles, plenty of small arms fire, cant tell who is shooting them or us, would think its most likely dfensive surpessive dfire as i dont see anything coming close to the convoy), but who can tell who is behind them..

anyways good video.

and nice supercharger whine in that burban...

and what the hell are airforce pukies doing dirving around baghdad in supercharged armored burbans?

figured out who was shooting it was coming from the humveess apeared they were shooting up into the air, either to keep peoples heads down or out of fear (i think it was the first).

I think you can see somebody shooting out of the passenger window of one of the humvees. Also the top gunner on the lead humvee stayed up. My buddy thinks that one of the cars that pulls over up at the intersection was rolling grenades out the windows, and that's who they were shooting at. You can see people are running away from that car pretty fast.

Probably from the humvee behind them...

It's an obvious convoy for contractors, private security, media or a recognized figure being escorted. It's a high avenue of approach which leaves me to believe the enemy called from a static OP to signal suspect cars were en route from >1click. Therefore, it's hard to say if there's a know figure in the vehicles unless the enemy had intel, which I doubt.

Good flick though...

My only comment is that once the ambush was initiated, the friendly vehicles seem to bunch up. Is that SOP in that type of situation? Bunched up = easy target.
Is there a longer version of this clip floating around?

The initial and natural reaction when you're in a vehicle is to break contact asap.

Had it been just the humvee's im sure they would have returned fire, oppressed and either moved to the LOA of the objective or called for fire on the target. However, seeing how they were in a populated area, i can assume breaking contact was the best choice for these men.

Any near or far ambush is handled differently on foot than in a fast vehicle.

actually if you look closely looks like an object (ied) was places in that diveder, then that second explosion looked almost like an rpg being fired from somewhere to the right. It also soudns like there were more IEDS planted along the route.

As far as who it is i am pretty sure it was AFOSI (air force office of special investigations) That would explain the escort (most contractors are in charge of their own security details, including convoy security). Just my two cents on the evidence that is provided in the video.

You can actually see one of the grenades on the road (the one on the right) right before it explodes.

This frame is right before the intial explosion on the left hand side divider

In this frame you begin to see the explosion in the divider

IN this frame you can see the explosion grow towards the right of the intial point of explosion (note the shrapenl hitting the hummer)

This frame the majority of the fire of hte explosion is out and most of the shrapenl is hittin ghte hummer as well as the burban at this point.

explosion number two

You will note that the object in the road is not a gernade it seems to be a peice of paper or an old cup or something like that.

Note the movement on the right side of the frame while it doesnt capture the actuall y object that is more due to the poor encoding and frame rate of the intial video source. You can tell very veyr lightly that the dust in that area seems to be unsettled from an object flying thru the air above it, when compared in a frame by frame matter you can really see this well.

**** you dont need a play by play this isnt a court or anything the screen caps speak for them selves, i stand by my intial analsyis of hte events as a road side bomb followed by an rpg on that video (which from teh audio sounds like a larger ied was set off after that convoy passed thru that area.
