Iraq 1, Muqtada al-Sadr 0 (NOT surprised that most of you aren't talking about this)

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the U.S. Military's power combined with the Iraqi Nat. Conference can concur the most radial religious leaders and their promise.

Remember this:

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr gestures during a news conference in his first public appearance since the new wave of fighting began in Najaf, southern Iraq Monday Aug. 9, 2004. 'I will continue fighting,' al-Sadr told reporters. 'I will remain in Najaf city until the last drop of my blood has been spilled.'. Al-Sadr spoke as the devastating fighting between his Mahdi Army militia and U.S. and Iraqi forces persisted for a fifth day.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has accepted a peace plan drafted by the Iraqi National Conference, which would include laying down arms and withdrawing his militia from a holy shrine in the city of Najaf, a delegate told the conference Wednesday.
Too bad they didn't kill Muqtada al-Sadr

It makes me laugh when you have these "radical Muslims" up in arms with threats to fight to the death after giving them numerous peace ultimatums.

Then all of the sudden they question their cause and aren't anxious to meet Allah quite yet?!

This really looks bad for Muqtada al-Sadr as the Shiite leader. He bluffed, we called and pretty much denounced his entire cause.

If you're such a "radical Muslim" then you would have died like Martyrs do... it's the very essence of being one as they’re supposed to die for their religious faith. Hopefully the Shiite community will realize he's a cowardly fraud.

what i find even more funny is how he realy didnt get owned at all....

he got exactly what he wanted, or at least a path to get what he wants.....

He and his group of nuts, went from outlaws who everyone wnated to kill to a viable political party and acreditted force in iraqi politics.....

Why exactly do you think the guy put up a fight? Because he wanted some power over the direction iraq was going. SInce none of the politicals would give him a shot he said FU ALL im going to fight it out... SO he did, all the way until the iraqis gave up and decided that having the US go and level the holiest of shrines in iraq wasnt as good of an option as giving the guy what he wanted in the first place.

If anything the score should be this

Iraqi relgious nuts + iraqi relgious symbols + human lives - 1
Us and Iraqi backed poltiical figures - 0

I realize he got what he wanted but it never had to come to the death of all those Shiite's seeing how we gave him numerous peace ultimatums and political party offerings. He was supposed to be a Martyr after all his claims to "spill every last drop of blood". Muqtada al-Sadr got in way over his head and needed the word of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani to pull him out of the sand, clear his religious standing and take the peace offering we've been giving to them from the very beginning.

You're so full of **** it makes my brain hurt.

It's obvious you've never done your homework either, Dre... The United States Military has ALWAYS been loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr, Mohammed Sadek al-Sadr and his rebels. Especially after February 1999 when Mohammed Sadek al-Sadr, Muqtada al-Sadr's father, was assassinated by Saddam's Baath Party.

This gave the United States and Muqtada al-Sadr a unique relationship and a chance to exploit Muqtada al-Sadr's power and influence among the Shiite. I can't even begin to tell you how many times the United States has had the opportunity to kill him since the early 90's till today. I was even given briefings on Muqtada al-Sadr's surveillance and how he was a "priority asset" in a few dayrooms.

The United States gave numerous peace offerings to Muqtada al-Sadr because they wanted him to take the offer, not because we wanted to look like the good guy after killing him. We wanted to give the Shiite community the opportunity to have a say in the future of Iraq as a political party. If Muqtada al-Sadr decides to take advantage of us in the future then we crush his nuts and the rebels once again!

Why aren't all you Anti-Bush and War people aren't talking about this now?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp..._re_mi_ea/iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Rebel Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr called for his followers across Iraq (news - web sites) to end fighting against U.S. and Iraqi forces and is planning to join the political process in the coming days, an al-Sadr aide said Monday.
This is a major step in the stability of Iraq and none of you what to mention it because it makes the cause look good.

If we manage to get the Muslim community to drop their weapons (which like most likely happen), then all we have to worry about are those members from the few & former Baath party and loyalists from cities like Fallujah fighting for a lost cause.

This is major news people! God forbid we bring anything up that makes the Bush Administration look good in their attempt to liberate Iraq.

That is good news. People who were against the war in the first place do not necessarily hope that the situation stays mired in crap. This is truly good news... the sooner we get our troops home the better.

btw, are these the WMD's Bush and Co kept talking about?
