"Can an interrogator rape the prisoner in order to obtain a confession?" was the follow-up question posed to the Islamic cleric.
Mesbah-Yazdi answered: "The necessary precaution is for the interrogator to perform a ritual washing first and say prayers while raping the prisoner. If the prisoner is female, it is permissible to rape through the vagina or anus. It is better not to have a witness present. If it is a male prisoner, then it's acceptable for someone else to watch while the rape is committed."

Tehran Prosecutor seals Karroubi’s office

Officers holding a warrant from the Tehran Prosecutors’ Office raided opposition cleric Mehdi Karroubi’s office today, seizing all CDs, documents and computers there.
The raid took place at approximately 3 p.m. in the afternoon at Karroubi’s office in Jamshidiyeh.
“They rummaged through the office and took with them all the CDs, computers, documents and videos,” said the National Confidence Party Spoksman Esmail Gerami.
“They escorted the people who had come to meet Mr. Karroubi, along with the Secretary-General, out of the office,” he added.
Gerami also announced that the editor-in-chief of the Etemad-e Melli website had been taken into custody.
Earlier in the week, Karroubi released a statement in which he criticized the three-member committee appointed by Judiciary Chief Sadeq Larijani for claiming that he had not offered any proof for his allegations in his meeting with them.
Karroubi said at the time that he was in possession of CD and film testimonials as well as other documents proving jail rapes had taken place. He said he would not hesitate to go public with this information if the Judiciary committee failed to maintain its impartiality.

Reports from Qom indicate that a number of jail rape victims have visited Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli and testified to having been violated.
According to a credible source cited by the reformist Mowjcamp website, Qom’s interim Friday prayers leader was deeply shocked by the accounts and promised to pursue the cases of the victims.
Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli did not attend Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s inauguration and endorsement ceremonies.
