Hmmm
Our contribution to the U.N. pretty much funds the paychecks of all the non-U.S. soldiers involved. I was "talking" to this Canadian gal (God bless her) that was part of a U.N. op and she said she got a check from Canada, her regular pay, and then another check from the U.N. I can only assume the U.N. portion of her pay came out of the U.S. tax payers pockets. Unless I'm wrong to assume that there is another country that contributes more than we do?
I understand that we need the U.N. around and unless I'm wrong in thinking so, isn't it more or less a tool for the U.S. Here we have this neutral organization that polices the world, and it's made up of a multi-national force. Who could argue against anything they do? This group pretty much supports what we do and does what we say (or else we yank a huge portion of it's funds).
Of course I could be wrong. I've only worked with the U.N. once and most of that time was spent with the Canadian gal...other than that I've never given it another thought.
