oh wow... our government is now in the business of providing vehicle warrantees for GM and Chrysler cars.

This will be a cluster to distinguish which cars are covered by this program and which are not.

 

So does that mean I "own" a part of every Chevy warranty now?

If they force GM or Chrysler into court to restructure, during that time GM and Chrysler will still honor the warranties of cars they have on the road, with the backing of the government. It's just a tool to hopefully keep people buying GM/Chrysler products if (more likely when) they go into bankruptcy.

I also don't see where it would be that big of a deal to figure out which cars are covered and which are not. GM and Chrysler both have that information on file most likely. If that's the case then if you're car is still under warranty then you are covered and if it isn't, your not covered.
