Gap between the rich and the poor
Article from the AP wire about the gap between the rich and poor growing
Fair breakdown from an economic standpoint....
Here is a small excerpt from the end of the article:
"This really has nothing to do with Bush or Kerry, but more to do with the longer-term shift in the structure of the economy.''

1) Did you read the article carefully?
2) Do you know how rapidly demographics have changed, i.e. migrant and low-wage mexican immigrants?
3) Fewer higher educated here, and more abroad.
4) Global competition
Shifted the tax burden to the middle class? My A__.
This article is NOT news, but it is class-warfare propaganda.
By the way, the "TOP 20%" you keep hearing includes EVERYONE in the Bay Area and relatively pricey areas that can afford a home. Tax us more and all of those extra purchases that keep the economy going will disappear.
End of critic.

The article used the term " haves & have nots". I prefer the the "wills" & "will nots."
There will always be those that prefer not to do what is necessary to succeed in life. I am not working/earning at my potential, but, hey, that's my choice & I'm certainly not beyoching about it.
Everyone here knows people, maybe from as far back as elementary school, that for one reason or another, just didn't make it.
That's life.
But everyone here probably knows a person that is sucessful but had to work at it, had to overcome some "disadvantage".
My standard response to those that cry "Poor me...".
Suck it up & drive on.

Over two decades, the income gap has steadily increased between the richest Americans, who own homes and stocks and got big tax breaks
I'd love to see you guys make $1million salary as an independent contractor and **** away $300,000 (a good lawyer salary) to the IRS every year. You'd be trying to find any tax break you could possbly find via rentals, leases, buy-backs and charity.
And after everything's said and done you still owe $220,000 to the IRS... some tax break
