A device that spares the life of soldiers in counter-insurgency missions by entering hostile buildings and areas contaminated with radiation, biological and chemical threats? Oh the nerve of the defense industry!!!!111!!one!1!

It's not like the robot is capable of rational thought, solving quadratic equations and starting a family... it's an Radio Controlled tank equipped with a shotgun, NBC sensor and video camera.

Bomb squads around the world have used the same exact device for over a decade but nice try, dub2w... go back to reading your Isaac Asimov literature and watching the Sci-Fi channel.

If the cost of supporting a human soldier is more than $42,000 , then this robot is a very good idea.

I think this Robot is great for certain missions where there's a known NBC or unconventional threat.

$42,000 is chump change for the support, training and actual life of any individual solider. I can remember pissing away $400,000+ a day firing Javelin Missiles at old rusted tanks downrange.

Ahhh... and you complain about socialist policies aimed at helping inner-city kids get jobs.

On the battlefield this is a fanastic device and could potentially save lives.

Would you rather he didn't practice with the missile and then when he uses it(without proper training) and accidentally kills a civilian? You promise you wouldn't ***** about that

Exactly.

Don't blame me for your shortcoming in posting a lame thread, then trying to defend it...

I took off the boots 2 years ago and am wearing sandals as we speak.

This still doesn't prove how I complained about socialist policies aimed at helping inner-city kids get jobs

*checks watch and waits*

that was a gross generalization about your typically anti-socialist / democratic views

unfair to say you are against social welfare programs?

Read every post in the Welfare thread I recently posted carefully. You'll notice I'm making conversation the entire time and presenting a different side of argument without taking a firm stand. By reading my posts, you'll also notice how I votes "yes" to my own poll.

So how am I against social welfare programs?

I have noticed a softer, more eloquent, and over-all more intelligent side of you Salty. I am glad that you escaped from the barracks that is right-wing conservative politics.

Welcome to the middle zone, where we get shot at by donkeys and elephants alike (hmmm... images of The Animal Farm dance through my head)

Socialist policies are what a true civilized nation should strive for. However, inner city youths may be undeserving of such assistance. Unfortunatly there are kids who study hard and obey their teachers but can't afford to get a higher education.

When kids turn on the television and see a POS in diamonds and platinum rapping about spending money and disrespecting women, they will in turn emulate that negativity. (Especially) Inner-city youths see this lifestyle as a glamoures one and lose track of what there civic responsibilty is: go to school, respect your peers and your community, be a PRODUCTIVE member of society.

Its hard to try and help someone who doesn't want to help themselves, would you agree?

Speechless...

It's obvious you have the wrong impression of our military with ^that^ quote and -this- thread.

I served with the most intelligent individuals I’ve ever known. Most of them enlisted to pay for off their student loans. When I was in charge of a nine man squad at 21 years of age we had 6 college graduates... 4 with an BS/BA, 1 with an MBA in business and a 29yr old Ph.D. Those that didn't attend college (myself included) scored high in schools, classes and courses available to us in the Army.

This was very typical too... We had liberals, conservatives and everything in between wanting to serve their country before they got too old. Having a political side means absolutely dick when you're in the military.

Strike two, dub2w.... *sigh*

Ha, dude, you talk like a wisened general. What exactly did you do to serve our country? Were you ever in any conflicts or see any action or anything, or did you just make yourself available for it and that gives you the liscensce to talk like Sam Fisher? Don't get me wrong, i think its awesome that you were in the military - as i would be in the air force had i not gone to school after graduating, but if you mention one more time about how you were in command of an elite troup of geniuses, i am going to ******* flip my gourd.
You think you are a superior member of society and you frequent internet forums where you and a whole lot of other socially awkward ex-military nerds circlejerk each other and try desperately to feel like they are still important, living vicariously off of each others tepid stories of where a threat may or may not have loomed over your barrack one night - and when you finally do meet a real vet at your dads freinds wedding or at a hof brau you took your grandma to after your mom made you, you come back online and pretend that it was just you and him in a goddamned sweatlodge somewhere exchanging heartfelt stories about your tours of duty. You read tom clancy novels and write every acronym down so you can use it later with idea that if nobody knows what the hell you are talking about, then YOU MUST BE AN EXPERT. "you mean to tell me you don't know what 34c1-5 means? Oh, then you must not be a REAL military hero like myself - did i mention i commanded a crack squad of geniuses at the tender age of 21? Oh yes..*chews cigar and looks into the horizon*"
I talk to pilots from time to time, and i've flown a plane before, but that doesnt make me a goddamned A-10 pilot. So knock off your "I'm from san antonio so i KNOW what salsa should taste like" crap.

Actually don't, i don't even remember why i was mad.
continue.

LOL.
