MAN! I was gonna write something smart-alecky about how it's about as genius as realizing that you need to drink water or something. Better late than never, I guess.

Ugggh. Ft. Polk. I bet those Iraqi contractors wish they were back in Iraq

Well it worked when they sent a bunch of Kosovars here to train our men. Good people. I still keep in touch with one of them via email.

Hahah, my mom was stationed there for a bit. It wasn't that bad, but the trailer parks were intresting to say the least.

Haha. Your mom is an officer directly under a general. All she had to worry about was if the AC worked and if her latte stayed warm.

I'm talking about the training part of Ft. Polk. Jumping into 3ft of mud at 800ft, conducting cloverleaf recons, conducting distant tactical movements and sleeping minimal hours in distant creek beds and thickets for 3 weeks without a shower.

Moma jokes are weak. But if you wanna go that route I'll start doing the same.

Oh and my mom doesn't drink coffee. And all I was stating is that my mother worked in FT. Polk why the jab? And that when I visited her I didn't find it all that bad.

lighten up man. We're just joking. If you're mom is in uniform that's good enough for me by a land slide.

Sounds like you'd been to JRTC. I prefer the triangle or box method recon myself. Anyway. Its funny how 18 series soldiers are the most proficient war fighters on the face of the earth, and why is that? Probably because they know more about the history of the region and the culture than the people who live there do. The 6-12 month language school plus your acclimation time in country. You can relate so much better and build a sense of trust that is far better than brute force tearing the country apart and losing support.

Man, I'll be honest. I might be an officer and tabbed but I still admire Green Berets like you can't even imagine. I didn't mean in the "initiate with a claymore and 240G, consolidate the target with 81mm and then break contact" sense. I mean because they incorporate something Rangers don't, cooperation with indigenous forces (excluding LRPs in Vietnam). I feel you can win a battle without absolute distruction. More of a surgical application of combat power. When it comes to storming the objective and overwhelming the enemy with firepower no one can touch an Infantry unit. I don't see much of that in the scout platoon though.
