It appears that France wants to invest when there's less liability too.

Because you wouldn't want to lose all your interest with Iraq, right France?
If France (and Canada) wants in on OIF then we must be closer to winning this thing then I thought.

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt (Reuters) - France told an international conference on Iraq (news - web sites) Tuesday it was time to put aside differences over the U.S.-led invasion and help the country put an end to violence.
"We all know what positions our different countries held in the period that led to the current situation developing. But today we must turn to the future. France, and Europe, are ready to do so," French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said.
"We have a collective duty to put an end to instability in Iraq," he said in a speech prepared for delivery at the conference in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. An official English translation was obtained by Reuters.

Also Salty, what's wrong with helping out a nation that one wishes to trade with? A lot of people associate international trade with greed. The most important benefit of international trade is that comparative advantage allows all participants to increase their standard of living.

Why waste my tax dollars and the bravest of my fellow countrymen's lives?
We got Saddam out of power, we made sure they don't have WMD's laying around, what's left should be settled amongst those with legitimate claims.

And how dare France want to end instability I can't believe the nerve.....

The U.S., France and Germany need French and German companies to come back and help to help rebuild Iraq's damaged energy and oil facilities, since they made most of them.
It was only a matter of time.
This is a win-win situation for the U.S., France, and Germany.
