Its only degrading if you consider gay people offensive ... and sounds to me like the Cheney's do.

Yeah I didn't get. He was very respectful about it. And made a point. What I found really amusing was when Bush was about to say that News sources where not a valid thing to bring up in debate. Maybe for someone that doesn't read the papers its not valid but for the rest of us it is. Or the fact that he lied when he said that he never said he wasn't worried about BinLaden. Which he did state and they showed him saying this on almost EVERY newsstation afterwards.

What debates have you been watching?!! Jr. more genuine of a person?! Why do you believe this, he did everything in his power to go into a war with Iraq. Not to mention other things he has done. You know what when Bush was governor here in texas he said he wouldn't run for president. Guess what he did? Ran for president. How anyone can say Jr is genuine is beyond me

Perhaps it was alluded to in the Federalist Papers, but it was not a cornerstone of this country.

The idea of separation of church and state (as preached by the American Criminal Liberties Union) is a myth.
The BOR clearly says that the gov't shall not favor one religion over another; it must accept all.
I'll have to read through my Federalist Papers to find a good quote.

...regardless of weather or not there should or shouldn't be seperation of church and state, our government does favor one religion over the others. ALL of our presidents have been the same religion (christian...don't give me that crap about catholic being different than christian, it's just one version of christianity...), we have in god we trust on our money (not allah or buddha or zeus), we say under god in our pledge...

Don't know if you know this, but this country was founded by Christians.
Heretics, actually, but that's a different thread.
Europe was virtually all Christian at the time of America's European beginning.
So, yes, there is a Christian bias in America, but so what.
Unlike some countries, the dominant religion isn't forced on those of a different faith.

Not forced, brainwashed into thinking it's right from before I can remember. Is it good that we don't just say we're a Christian state? I have some respect for countrys that say they're religious...here we just pretend we're not for some reason. And yes, the country was founded by christians...but they didn't want the gov't to sway anyones religion, which it does now. No, they don't force any religion on us...but the fact that no non-Christian has ever been president is a testament to the fact that they exert some type of force in terms of religion.
And how does the fact that Europe was mostly Christian when the US was founded or the fact that our country was founded by Christians excuse the fact that we are a religious state masquerading as a religiously unbiased state?

If you look at all of the religions practiced in the US, the majority practice Christianity. If you look at all of the Christians in this country, the majority are white / Anglo. If you look at all of the voters in this country, the majority are white / Anglo.
Fairness aside, that is my best explanation for there having always been white, Christian presidents.
MV... I do agree that our current administration unfairly imposes a certain faith on the nation. But I would incline to call this pandering to a very effective degree. I cant stand Bush and Co and feel that he does more harm to Christ's name than he glorifies it. But hey... that's just my .02 and its Friday so we all get
the happy

The fact that no non Christian has ever been elected to President is moot.
If the predominant poplation practices some form of Christianty, it would stand to reason that the majority of candidates would be followers of this religion, and that the majority of candidates elected would be Christian.
Bottom line is that you can practice pretty much any form of religion in this country knowing that the Feds won't come kicking in your door.

Good article...one part of it stood out to me, that an athiest would never get elected. That's sad to me...I wonder about an agnostic candidate...hmmm...
