California must shrink the population of its teeming prisons by nearly 43,000 inmates over the next two years to meet constitutional standards, a panel of three federal judges ruled Tuesday, ordering the state to come up with a reduction plan by mid-September.

Potential win-win
Specter emphasized, as did the judges, that the ruling "doesn't mean that 40,000 prisoners are going to walk out of prison tomorrow."
"If done right, this could be a win-win situation for the entire state, as the prisons will be safer for my clients and the staff who work there, taxpayers will save hundreds of millions of dollars a year and communities will be safer as a result," Specter said, pointing to the judges' opinion that prison conditions contribute to repeat offenses.

It probably wouldn't be the kind of State that would be having these sorts of problems..
Yes I realize there are counties in California where CCW Issuance is both fair and common, but the Majority of the state's population is still screwed in this regard..

If California was the kind of State that the average guy could get a CCW.

ask Australia how banning handguns went...
and lets not for this gem:
UK more violent than South Africa
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...frica-U-S.html
- Homicides up 3.2 percent.
- Assaults up 8.6 percent.
- Armed robberies climbed nearly 45 percent.
- In the Australian state of Victoria, gun homicides climbed 300 percent.
- In the 25 years before the gun bans, crime in Australia had been dropping steadily.

gun = awesome cowboy?
If people want to carry guns with them, I say let them. But it won't turn you into a super hero.
I'm 29 years old and have never been at the mercy of some dirtbag. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Description of Straw Man
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:
1. Person A has position X.
2. Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
3. Person B attacks position Y.
4. Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person.
