The bottom line is that the economy would break down completely if one or more of the big three fail. And just cause Ford doesn't need money this month does not mean it is in the clear. They said it themselves that they have enough for December, maybe January but if things don't pick up, they are in the same boat.
I completely understand that some are ignorant about the automotive industry. It is an immensely complex business, probably one of the most complex businesses in the world. The amount of suppliers, dealers, and secondary businesses that it supports is massive, so it is understandable when people think one or more can go under without repercussions to them because they don't live near a plant, or they don't buy an American car anyways, but to think that way is uninformed and ignorant.
It's funny that we can ***** an moan about a 15 billion dollar loan that has a ton of stipulations in regards to getting the money paid back, and what not, but I don't hear anyone else really making a stink about the un-checked 700 billion. Money that you can guarantee won't be paid back and will probably just go to line the pockets of the senators and bankers that drafted the bill.
And do you all really care if the 15-25 billion comes out of the 700 billion for the banking sector? You weren't going to know where that money went anyways except that it was un-regulated. At least going to the Big 3 you know where it went and that it has a much better chance of getting paid back.

Wow, someone thinks pretty highly of himself. Actually wasn't referring to you because you seem to have a hard on for them actually going out of business so I really could give two ****s what you think. All this stuff has been said in the media in the last year, somewhere or another. And it needs to be said.

The only Foreign car I have ever owned.
And it was fantastic. But I haven't had any issues with my truck since I bought it 1.5 years ago and 30k miles ago either. Runs like a champ, gets good mileage (17-20 mpg) for a full size 4x4 pickup, and I can put my snowmobile in the back end and put the two other snowmobiles on the trailer and pull it up north for a long weekend of riding!

No worries....
But why is this the largest thread? Is it because Congress had to do their dog and pony show to make it seem like they give a rats *** about the people? Where were they when 28 times the amount requested by the big three was just handed over to the Banking industry without any regulatory requirements or stipulations? Everyone is getting on the Big three for paying lobbyists but apparently they aren't paying enough when Wall street can get 700 billion without so much as signing an IOU, and the Big Three are made to look like abject failures in front of the whole country. I would argue that the big three has done more for this country than any three corporations in our history.

Sounds like giving loans to people who don't deserve them... Here ya go, there's a jumbo loan for ya, no need to prove anything, here's the money.
