Don Imus Sues CBS Radio For Millions
Former Radio Host Claims He Was Following Contract Stipulations
NEW YORK -- Don Imus is firing back at CBS for pulling him off his radio show.
Imus has hired a First Amendment attorney to fight his firing, and he wants to receive the big portion of his $40 million contract that was left unpaid after he was fired for racist and sexist comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.
His attorney, Martin Garbus, said CBS got what it wanted from the radio host. He said the contract notes that CBS referred to Imus as controversial and irreverent, and his program being "desired" by the company and consistent with company rules.
CBS hasn't commented on the lawsuit.
Imus was only three months into his newest five-year deal when he was fired last month.
He had described the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos" on his nationally syndicated program, and was fired by CBS and his television simulcast home, MSNBC, after an protests by the likes of the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Exactly. Although I do think he has a case. In his contract there was a clause that stated that he could only be fired if he was warned once first and continued to do what he was warned for. It will be interesting.
