Do as I say, not as I do.

Elitist Democrat Senator Migden rear-ends Honda whilst talking on cellphone.

Ooooohhhh....the irony of it......:RockOn - not mine:

Mythbusters (not that they are a credible source) showed that it was the act of carrying on a conversation, not the having one hand in use, that cause poor driving. By this theory, a headset or earbud wouldn't do anything to reduce accidents.

Maybe not, but when you're only giving a tour (read:not working), just pushed a new click-it-or-ticket campaign, and you know press will be all over the place, it's probably not a bad idea.

While I agree with you, if the prez was on his property, the law isn't valid (I think).

I think you're correct, but it's still fitting for the do as I say, not as I do title. I personally couldn't care less whether or not he wears his seatbelt. Oh wait, if anything bad happened to him that would put Cheney in charge.

Right. The only thing I can think of that's more inconvenient would be wearing a seat belt while road hunting.

Exactly....I got a pilot's seat from a Huey helicopter that at one point was attached to the front bumper of my F350.
Made road hunting real easy.

BTW, the seat is now at the shop.

I saw a study about this. You/they are right- using your hands is not the distraction. Carrying on a conversation over the phone (and sometimes even with passengers) diverts parts of your visual cortex from the task of watching what you're doing. They proved this by tracking people's eye movements; normal, attentive drivers move their eyes around, checking their mirrors and scanning ahead and to the sides of the road they are approaching. Distracted drivers get "tunnel vision" where their eyes are virtually locked dead ahead on the road, and are probably not actually "seeing" what's in front of them as much as they are visualizing whatever they are talking about or listening about. It's analagous to having a TV or radio on in the background that you are montoring for certain sounds (or which can simply grab your attention back with certain words or sounds).
