Debates are a joke.
The only thing that a debate can show is who is a better speaker and who is a better B.S.'er. I think there should be a team of unbiased truth checkers right on hand to stop a candidate in his tracks when he/she is blatantly making crap up or bending the truth. This is an interesting article:

I don't watch the debates. Instead I listen to what the unbiased experts have to say about the candidates. Although it's really hard to find an unbiased expert these days.

Welcome to the political theater. The "theater" portion is in there for a reason. We all know all politicians are incapable of being 100% honest, so the people vote for who is better at being dishonest.

I think they're going to continue to suck until we get some worthwhile non-partisan candidates. The debates always boil down to party differences. These two parties will never agree on anything meaningful. The time for someone with no ties to either side is long overdue.
