Carpel tunnel here he comes!!!
Does this remind anyone of the seinfeld episode when he was signing all those checks.
We are going to take the secretary of defence and take up his time signing letters instead of figure out how to keep troops safer. Good call!

It's really not that big of deal...
Although I don't particularly care for Rumsfeld and think Cheney should pickup his job as Secretary of Defense, he's a smart guy that knows how to manage his time. You don't exactly get a cabinet job unless you've learned to make use of your time. And he's done this particular job under two different Presidents so I'm sure he seasoned.
It's not like he's chiseling out the names of each service member in marble... he's signing a signature and going over a few letters. I have made hundreds upon hundreds of flash cards in a few hours for exams and signed numerous business letters every week. BFD if he writes, reviews or signs 1300+ letters. It's not like he had to write all those letters in a day (thankfully). He probably wrote a few here and there while he was brushing his teeth over a year time span.
The President signs his name (most have been known to have done this) to couples’ 50th anniversary congratulatory letter! Imagine how many of those are suffering from carpel tunnel syndrome.
