IMO, you should be able to request that google obscure images of your properly that are taken from a certain distance. my house on street view shows the plates on both my cars for example as well as the interior of my garage (door was up).
i should be able to ask them to obscure that.

Insurgent mortar teams in Iraq used Google Earth to be able to calculate the elevation and deflection of their rounds after their initial "mark of the target" from the comfort of the homes making their "fire for effect" mission that much more accurate. Now I'm not comparing the U.S. to a combat zone but one could certainly classify Google Earth as a government surveillance tool afforded to everyday citizens (granted its not real time). I will say though, that having planned attacks and been in intell. before I'll use every asset available to me, that's no different than an Islamist cell cordinating an attack. Why afford them this luxury? Does seeing a government building really mean that much to you?

And yes, it does matter. I want to see the buildings built with my tax money.

Or, "oh, look, theres an M3 in that driveway. And here's a quick getaway route."
The second scenario isn't impossible without streetview, but streetview makes it easier. You can scope out your target from the comfort of your living room.

Honestly, if a terrorist cell wants to attack us here in the US, I would bet that they would rely on more than Google earth to figure out a potential target. I think this is an irrational fear. Blurring images on Google earth is not going to stop any terrorist from carrying out an attack.
