I don't buy it becuase I think it's better than tap water. Hell, if I could bottle the well water that we have on our farm, I would, everyday. I buy bottled water for the convience, no other reason.

That's sort of why I started this thread. I also buy bottled water for convenience...but now all those trendy college kids with Nalgene bottles are looking pretty smart.

Interesting read. Those numbers are pretty shocking. Many of the bottled water suppliers simply purify H2o through reverse osmosis. This process will remove prtty much all total disolved solids. Also known as demineralized, deionized, distilled. Different processes same product. As for the "Mountain Spring" water Hetch Hetchy is just that. The majority of the penninsula has this water supply. Frankly it is quite good. San Jose on the the other hand is all a municipal well. The water down here tastes like doo doo. It has quite high TDS and hardness. I'd rather not drink the H2O in SJ due to it's taste. I know a couple of people that go to the dog park I go to that say they only give thier dogs bottles water. Alhambra to be exact. I laugh at them. "OK so your dog licks it's butt, eats dirt, digs through trash, but it's picky about it's water? Right.

I was checking out some of the MilSpec camel bacs they have at Reed's shooting range in Santa Clara...badass. In line filtration, super heavy duty bladers that can get run over and be fine, awesome valve system, and hardcore packs that have funtionality like crazy. I have to get one...too bad they cost 4X the amount of a civilian camel bac...
Here's more on it. Long read, but pretty interesting.

This may have been covered in one of those 2 articles, but there is very little federal restriction on water purity for bottled water.
I personally think that Arrowhead tastes like some assy SoCal tap water run through a weak filter
